It’s not long until the next Deptford Scratch 🎭

Come along to hear from brilliant writers, actors, directors and theatre makers from the Global Majority. The chosen pieces take us from a North London playground to a harsh desert and beyond, as the characters navigate friendships, relationships, grief and the emotional rollercoaster that is a school disco.

Throwback to watching ‘Before We Forget’ at one of the best to do it; the Bush Theatre this Summer 💚

‘What if you could relive every moment of your life with perfect clarity? Or erase forever the memories you’d rather leave behind? With Recall, you can. But every choice comes at a cost.’

Sounds good right? But all is not what it seems with Recall, the big corporation with the power and technology to help you relive/preserve or erase your memories. Set in a dystopian future, Before We Forget had the audience imagining life where our memories could be controlled. I think we can all relate to a moment that we want to remember forever as well as ones that we wish never happened/we could just forget. It really left me pondering the thought of ‘what if this was real life?’…

There was a lot going on stage making this a fast-paced and energetic watch. The play would have benefited from fleshing out some of the many themes a bit more and cutting down on some of the storylines. It was a very funny watch too; the scenes with the two Somali sisters were my fave 😂

Before We Forget was co-created by the 18-25 Bush Young Company and Director Amber Ruby. I have seen a few 18-25 plays at the Bush now and I love the opportunity that new talent get, to shine on stage as well as all the efforts from the cast and creative team involved 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

This one gets three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Before We Forget @bushtheatre had a short run but I would like to see it make a return.
