“I can't hold somebody's hand now. I can't let them know that I see them.”
⠀
These are some of the opening words of Spam Risk, and they carry so much weight.
⠀
During the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers faced an unimaginable challenge. Beyond treating patients, they were unable to offer something so simple, yet so meaningful: human touch.
⠀
These opening moments set the tone for Spam Risk, a film about grief, isolation, and the importance of human connection.
⠀
We wanted to tell a story that reminds us of something we learned during lockdown but don't talk about nearly enough today: human connection isn't a luxury. It's something we all need.
⠀
We're excited to announce that Spam Risk is BACK streaming on Project UnLonely!
⠀
Whether you're watching for the first time or revisiting the story, we hope it encourages you to think about the people and connections that matter most.

My incredible husband @ballardcboyd is the writer & director of the new feature film @jackrabbitmovie and it had the honor of being the opening night movie at @sohofilmfest this past week!! After seeing the movie dozens of times (and still loving it because @therealkuhoo @taylortega & @sjsonmyson are SO FUN TO WATCH and thanks to cinematographer @evanjakecohen and team it’s GORGEOUS) it was a thrill to get experience it in a movie theater! My favorite part in the theater was the music by @clajmo - already awesome, but the surround sound made me feel it in my whole body!!

And while it was a big night for my husband and he deserves all the praise for his phenomenal creation and YEARS of hard work, it also felt like a big night for me.

Ballard dedicated the film to our youngest daughter and myself because we decided as a family to use part of his paternity leave to allow him to shoot the movie when I was just 3 months postpartum (because here in the United States you have to go the extra mile to ensure the bills are paid while you chase your dreams). And to anyone who has achieved anything with a family you know that achievement is due to the shared and often unrecognized workload by partners and support teams at home. Ballard made my workload visible to the entire audience and as a result, the rest of the night felt like a party for me 🥹

Thank you to everyone who came up to me to chat and honor my part in the birthing of this movie baby!! And thank you to the entire cast and crew for making my husband’s dream come true! You will forever hold a special spot in our hearts.

Yay @jackrabbitmovie 🥳

We’re sad to say that Spam Risk will be leaving @beunlonely Project UnLonely for the time being...but there’s still time to watch it for FREE! 🎬

For now, this is your final opportunity to watch the film on Project UnLonely before it’s no longer available.

Set in Venice, California during the COVID lockdown, Spam Risk follows Petula, a young widow who has become disconnected from the world around her, both physically and emotionally.

When she receives an unexpected phone call from an unknown number, what begins as a conversation between two strangers slowly becomes an unlikely connection that challenges Petula’s solitude and offers her a lifeline back to the world.

But is everything as it seems?

Swipe through to experience one of the conversations shared between Robert and Petula in Spam Risk.

Their conversation reflects something so many of us experienced during COVID the isolation, the uncertainty, and the need to simply connect with another person.

Sometimes, a conversation can become a lifeline when you least expect it.

You can watch Spam Risk right now for free on Project UnLonely. Click the link below to create your free account and watch the film.
