Fast franchise growth is exciting but can your leadership keep up? Doug Flaig knows what it takes to lead through rapid growth. As CEO of Stratus Clean, he’s helped lead the brand to more than 5,000 unit franchisees and along the way, he’s learned that scaling successfully takes a LOT more than simply selling more units. In this episode of the Franchise Leaders Forum, Tracy and I sit down with Doug to talk about what’s happening behind the growth: - Choosing the right franchisees - Building systems that can actually scale - Strengthening communication as the system grows - Knowing when it’s time to tap the brakes - Leading through influence, not just authority That last one is SO important. 👏 Because as a franchisor, you can build the systems, provide the tools and set expectations but ultimately, your franchisees are independent business owners. Great franchise leadership requires the ability to create alignment and influence people toward a shared vision. If you’re a franchisor, franchise founder or leader navigating growth, this conversation is worth a listen! What do YOU think is the biggest leadership challenge that comes with rapid franchise growth? 👇

I think this was my 10th year at the Springboard Conference. ❤️ Fourteen years ago, my friends Brad Fishman of Fishman PR and Lane Fisher of FisherZucker started Springboard with a very specific purpose: to help emerging franchise brands—those in that critical 0–50 unit stage—learn best practices and build their brands the right way. And year after year, they’ve created a room where that happens. This year was a first for Springboard—Fort Worth, Texas! 🤠 After years in Philly, the conference hit the road, and it was such a great few days. Wonderful speakers. A fantastic case study. New emerging brands to meet and learn about. And one of my favorite parts—seeing longtime franchise friends who continue to come back to Springboard to share what they’ve learned with the next generation of franchisors. I spent a lot of years as an emerging franchisor myself, so I know how valuable it is to sit in a room with people who have already made some of the mistakes you’re trying to avoid—and are willing to tell you about them. That’s one of the things I love most about the franchise community. We build. We grow. We learn. And then we come back and help the people coming behind us. Here’s to the emerging brands I met at Springboard this year. I can’t wait to see where you are 10 years from now. ❤️ #SpringboardConference #Franchising #EmergingFranchisor

Two years ago, Tracy Panase and I launched The Franchise Leaders Forum Podcast with one simple goal: learn from the best leaders in franchising. Yesterday we celebrated our two-year anniversary by interviewing Doug Flaig, CEO of Stratus Clean—one of the fastest-growing brands in franchising. Here’s what’s funny… Neither of us had ever met Doug before we hit “record.” An hour later, it felt like we’d made a new friend. That’s the gift of this podcast. Every other week, we get a front-row seat to hear honest conversations about leadership, growth, mistakes, culture, scaling businesses, and the lessons you only learn by doing. And the truth is… Tracy and I are learning right alongside our audience. If you’re a founder, franchise executive, entrepreneur, or simply someone who wants to become a better leader, I’d love for you to make The Franchise Leaders Forum Podcast part of your professional development. You never know which conversation will give you the one idea that changes the trajectory of your business. Here’s to two years of learning—and to many more conversations ahead. 🎙️ #FranchiseLeadership #LeadershipPodcast #ProfessionalDevelopment #Franchising #Entrepreneurship

I’ve been filming stories since I was a kid with a camera and a dream. Today, I got to host our second annual #ServiceFranchiseSummit alongside Client Tether, surrounded by the operators and leaders who inspire me every day. No dress shoes allowed. No suit and tie. Deep masterminds. Intimate friendship building. Yes, even cold plunges and horseback riding. Humbled doesn’t even cover it. When you do what you love, it doesn’t feel like work. ❤️ More to come. Let’s go. 🚀 #DoWhatYouLove #FranchiseFilming #ServiceFranchise #Franchising #sfs2026 #franchise #franchiseconvention

Feeling God’s presence all around us in Italy. We’d welcome your prayers as we lead a group on the pilgrimage to learn and feel and surrender.

Another mini episode of what we did during our sabbatical in July. Enjoyed a long weekend with old friends in Northern California. We used to vacation every year together when the kids were little. Life seasons change and we haven’t gone on a trip like this together for many years. So it was so good to be all back together again. We enjoyed kayaking on the Russian river, really good food, and lots of wonderful conversation. The image of the tip of the canoe and the water and the trees and the blue sky takes me right back to that multi hour journey down the river.

Finally got to spend some time in the Eastern Sierra at the generous invitation of a friend with a mountain home while they are traveling elsewhere. Heading out into nature, I am reminded that there is so much good and beauty in this world, as crazy as it has been. This COVID time is a drop in the bucket of eternity and I think for me it has been easy to forget that. #easternsierra #earth_shots #creative_ace #moodygrams #mammothcreativecollective #shotzdelight #roamtheplanet #landscapephotohub #mammothphotofest #mammothmountain #monocountytourism #sonyalphapro #visitmammoth #depthsofearth #splendid_shotz #globaldaily #mustdotravels #visitcalifornia #sonyalpha #wheream_i_ca #hoyafilterusa #natgeo #bealpha #lexarnaturecontest
