“Douglass has a strong foundation and a community that deeply cares about its students. We’re not starting over—we’re building on the great work that’s already been done and taking it to the next level. Coach Hill is the type of leader, mentor, and relationship-builder that every school deserves, and I believe his impact will be felt quickly throughout the program and community.” -Shane Sanders. On Friday afternoon, the Douglass athletic department announced the appointment of Rodney Hill as the head coach for the boys basketball team, as reported by Miles Perry of Super Prep.

Hill joins Douglass after serving as an Assistant Coach at Auburn University, contributing to the Tigers’ women’s basketball program. Before his time at Auburn, Coach Hill dedicated two seasons to Texas A&M, his alma mater. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in guiding the Aggies to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021 and was instrumental in achieving a remarkable 10-win improvement in his inaugural season.

Hill’s background also includes experience at the professional level, serving as basketball operations manager for the WNBA’s Dallas Wings.
