Today I am thankful for my BBQ family, near and far who have been on this journey with me in one way or another. I met Doug on my first trip to Kansas City and the iconic @joeskc They inspired me so much, when I opened @bigboybarbeque we did a version of their Z-man sandwich and mentioned them on our menu. Thank you to all of you for sharing the BBQ love. Much love

What an honor today me and Kimberly Winter Stern to interview our friend and BBQ legend Jeff Stehney of Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que and County Road Ice House on Live From Jasper's Kitchen Radio. Jeff actually brought in all of the ingredients including Joe’s Kansas City brisket and pork for some authentic tacos. Overwhelmed with Jeff’s “taco spice” rub he created. We discussed this “rub” and he told us that is the key to successful BBQ and now his new dishes at County Road Ice House. Seriously, he needs to bottle this. Believe me, Jeff and Joy Stehney have another winner on their hands by combining Joe’s menu with the new restaurant. Make sure you check them out soon. You’re going to love the interview on the radio. www.countyroadicehouse.com @countyroadcold

OK, here’s your chance to get the perfect gift for the barbecue lover on your gift list! The first 960 bottles of @joeskc + @jriegerco Whiskey Bar-B-Que Sauce sold out in just hours when it was initially released on Dec. 1. Now you can get in on a second limited-edition holiday batch. “The demand for our first batch of 960 bottles blew away our wildest expectations," reports Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que founder Jeff Stehney in a company press release. "Both of our companies care deeply about our customers. While we see this product as always being a limited release around the holidays, there were simply too many disappointed individuals that left stores empty-handed. We’ve worked diligently over the past week with our friends at J. Rieger & Co. to ensure we can prepare a second batch to make available on Friday, December 15. We hope that the second batch, while limited, will better serve holiday demand.” Get your bottle at @joeskc original gas station location, @jriegerco tasting room, The Kansas City BBQ Store in Olathe or @madeinkc_ for $14.99. Yup, I’ve tasted it. Verdict: A well-balanced and sophisticated Kansas City-style sauce (with molasses and tamarind) that highlights the local whiskey’s distinctive note of barrel-aged sherry. #making #local #spirits #bright #whatfun #bbqsauce + #whiskey

The cool kids at the @american_royal barbecue contest are cooking on @gatewaydrumsmokers that look like trash cans but cut cook time on a brisket from 14 to 4 hours. Really! And they're winning big. Overland Park competitors Loren and Cheryl Hill of The Smoking Hills won The American Royal and $100,000 at the @worldfoodchampionships cooking on the upright smokers. "(It) is revolutionizing not only backyard barbecue, it's truly revolutionizing competition barbecue," say @jeffstehney, founder of @joeskc. I'm guessing soon they'll be a darling of backyard barbecuers as well. Read the story with video on @chowtownkc blog. #kcbbq #kcbarbecue #bbqlegends #bbq #ar2017bbq #AR2017BBQ

I was in the @joeskc test kitchen with @jeffstehney and chef Cary Taylor as they work through a few new items they're working on for Stehney's new concept County Line Ice House opening in @kcpldistrict in February 2018. The heavy-on-appetizers menu includes Texas Torpedoes (these are gonna be great with beer), crispy glazed baby back ribs, a smoked chicken tender salad, barbecue tacos and burgers, including a ZMan Burger. Read descriptions of the items and my tasting notes on the @chowtownkc blog. #kc #bbq #barbecuelegends #bbqhalloffame #AR2017BBQ
