The “Things Can Only Get Better Tour” came to a close at The Bowl at Sobey’s Stadium, Ontario Canada. The friendships that were made between the bands were lifelong. Every member of Modern English, English Beat and Wang Chung couldn’t have been nicer. They were all raising the bar every single night. The venue was packed with fans, making it the perfect ending to an incredible tour. Special thanks to Howard Jones who’s a legend and an inspiration to me since his first album. Thank you for having me be a part of something so special. To Jan, Mica, Phil, Robin, Rory, Joe, Skitch, Yenz, Rob, Jen (and last but certainly not least) Simon…I love you all so very much. You all bring so much love and joy into my life.

Jones Beach was quite an adventure. Lou Diamond Phillips and his family came to see us. The storm that passed through was epic. It brought a tornado a mile from where we were. We were delayed for quite a while but managed to play for the people that stayed. To my family and friends who did stay, I can’t thank you enough.

There’s no way to describe how special Steve and Carol Gadd are as people. Loving, sweet, down to earth and spiritually evolved. Thank you for two incredible days together and thank you for coming to the show. Everyone was so thrilled to meet you both and Howard and Jan were delighted to see you again. Your influence on me stretches back 52 years. I was lucky enough to choose a mentor who’s as kind as he is great and you are truly the greatest. I love you and Carol so very much.

Yesterday Felipe and I went to the Zildjian factory thanks to Joe Testa. What a pleasure to meet Rick Beato who’s been such an incredible source of knowledge and insight for the entire field of music and musicians. His expertise and encyclopedic depth are just one aspect of who he is. One of the humblest and nicest human beings. As for Zildjian, the history is so rich reaching back to the 1600’s when as alchemists they discovered the art of cymbal making. Their gift has always been working with artists and absorbing their feedback to create the greatest cymbals with consistency. Congratulations to Sam Zildjian as she embarks on her journey as the heiress to the Zildjian family and tradition. I’m honored to be part of this family. I’m celebrating my 35th year as an endorser, completing a childhood dream. It was so nice to see the factory through Felipe’s eyes as they welcome this masterful musician into the family. Last night I used my new 22” Kerope on the Joe Jackson tour and it blew me away. The character of this instrument is so musical and so complete.

An incredible tour with Howard Jones. Opening for Rod Stewart was so much fun. His band is filled with multi talented musicians who are also so kind. A thrill to be with people you love and music that’s been a part of your whole life. Our next tour starts in Napa Valley California July 19th.

I can finally announce that we will be on Jimmy Kimmel this Wednesday December 10th. We were the musical guest the day that Jimmy was cancelled off the air back in September. The day was surreal to say the least. We were asked to tape regardless and as you’ll see, we gave it our all.

Today I’m playing with Howard Jones at the Philharmonic in Haarlem Netherlands and as luck would have it, Steve Gadd and Will Lee are in Utrecht at the Tivoli with Simon Oslender. I couldn’t pass up seeing them. Two of the sweetest human being and complete legends.
