I’ve been lucky to do a lot of really cool things with my art over the years, but this may just be the most meaningful.

Helping raise funds for cancer research has been a main focus of ours since Andrew’s diagnosis. For us, research represents tangible hope in what can sometimes feel like a hopeless situation.

Seeing our comic, @andrew_and_kat, become part of that is incredibly special. Very grateful for this partnership. 🥹🩶🧠🎗️💪

It was pretty incredible to open the mail today and see this.

More than anything, it made us feel grateful.

Grateful to live close to such an incredible healthcare and research team. Grateful to know Andrew is in such good hands. And grateful for the research that keeps changing what a diagnosis like his can mean.

This year marks seven years since Andrew was diagnosed with #oligodendroglioma , which is significant because seven years was once considered the median life expectancy for his type of cancer. Because of research, that number has now doubled to 14.

That gives us so much hope, not just for Andrew, but for everyone who has to hear frightening news like this.

It’s been such an honour to share a little of our story through Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and hopefully help support the work that gives people more options, better quality of life and more time with the people they love.

Through this annual fundraiser, donations go directly to research and are being matched dollar for dollar until October 2 at hamiltonhealth.ca/research26.

Thank you to everyone at Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation for the work you do and for allowing us to be a small part of it.

Meet Kelly Williamson, MMM, CD
Director General, Operations and Environmental Communications, Canadian Armed Forces.

Kelly has served Canada as a Naval Warfare Officer, Public Affairs Officer, and member of Canada’s Disaster Assistance Response Team. From Haiti to Nepal, Afghanistan to West Africa, she has led with strength, resilience, and purpose, and made history as the first person of colour appointed Director of Public Affairs for the Royal Canadian Navy.

For the past week #emancipationdaystc celebrations have been unfolding across St. Catharines including the Harriet Tubman 175th Anniversary Commemorative Walk through downtown St. Catharines; and the Emancipation Day celebration at Lakeside Park last Sunday honouring the beloved historic #BigPicnic 🧺

The 2026 programming closes on Friday, July 31st @cityofstcatharines City Hall at 12 pm Noon, with a raising of the Pan-African Flag ahead of Emancipation Day on August 1, the day slavery was abolished in the British Empire in 1834.

Another highlight of the week was the launch of the Black History in St. Catharines Self-guided Walk 🤳📱app narrated by Rochelle Bush, the owner and operator of @tubmantourscanada . We were delighted and honoured to learn that St. George’s is stop number 3 on this walk that covers various locations and people that were all part of the important abolitionist history in our city.

We encourage you to continue to read some of the books for adults and children that @stcatharineslibrary has put together on their Emancipation Day and Harriet Tubman 175th Anniversary list. Go to their social media today. There are some wonderful books on it.

Happy 5 years of being husband and wife. ❤️

Life may have changed our plans, but it ended up giving us the wedding of our dreams.

We became the first couple to get married at St. Catharines City Hall after the COVID shutdowns, a moment that felt like a small sign of recovery for a city where we met, work, live, and love. The local paper even shared our story (linked in bio!), but what made the day special wasn’t a headline.

We celebrated with a small backyard wedding at my sister’s, surrounded by our family. My niece thought it was everyone’s birthday, so we all played along, singing “Happy Birthday” to everyone then cutting the cake.

Then we wandered downtown, where our favourite spot at the time, the burlesque bar Brazen, hosted a speakeasy reception with our friends. We finished the night with a pub crawl through the streets we call home while strangers clapped, cheered, and congratulated us.

Holy magic. 😍

Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. It was perfectly us.

Happy anniversary, Andrew. Thank you for being my partner through every unexpected twist, every adventure, and every ordinary day in between. I love you.
