That moment when you discover a box hidden in a corner of the attic that has been protecting your daughter’s #americangirl #bittybaby accessories and you get to take them to her, along with the doll blankets YOUR grandmother crocheted for you,for HER daughters to enjoy…. Priceless! 🥰

🪩Beautiful Whirlwind of a year🪩

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

This has been a year of transformation.

For almost 10yrs, I’ve served central & south-central Alabama as a Professional birth doula.

2023 I officially shifted roles into full time Student Midwife. The experience been nothing short of humbling & I am beyond grateful for my amazing preceptors & community. @auroramidwiferybhm @oasisbirthcenter @prattvillehomemidwifery @sweethomebirthalabama

This year has been filled a wide range of shared emotions. Moments of elation and moments of sitting with families in grief.
Each as important as the other.

To all My Sweet Families: I can not express the gratitude I have for each and every single one of you that have welcomed me into your own transformative season.

It is an immense honor to be entrusted to hold space as you navigate your birthing day.
Happy tears were shed shifting through this year’s photos.

Looking forward to 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣

Plugged in an old hard drive today and found this relic. It'll be 10 years next month! 😘 Tag folks in the comments that I missed and tell them how much you still love and appreciate them! Happy TBT!🫶🏽

🛑Why target CPM led freestanding birth centers?

🗣️This work is more than birth. Through community based birth. We hold space for Individual, community, and generational healing.

🗣️Currently CPMs only serve 0.05% of Alabama’s Low risk-healthy individuals carrying healthy babies.

🗣️Licensed Alabama CPMs CAN attend home births… with the proposed regulations, the state wants to bar CPMs from operating, opening, and providing primary care in privately owned free standing birth centers…

🛑 Alabama birth politicians directly targets Oasis family birth center (Birmingham) & The Birth Sanctuary Gainesville. Both centers are black female owned and operated, free standing birth centers.

🗣️Currently Individuals that choose homebirth or birth centers are paying out of pocket for this care!

💭So.. why has ADPH targeted the 0.05% that selects where and with whom they spend their money & where & with whom they birth?

⭐️This is because birth is BIG business in Alabama. The restrictions that are presented are not for the concern of public safety. Alabama has consistently been last for maternal and infant mortality for decades!
(These statistics are owned by hospital OB care. As CPM care has only just returned after being illegal for many decades)

@Alabamadepartmentofhealth , please focus on the real issue! Rampant abuse within our Mega birthing hospitals, Alabama’s maternal & infant mortality rate, and Alabama’s outrageous cesarean rate.

⭐️The individuals making these restrictions and regulations have never seen or experienced an out of hospital, low risk, physiological birth with CPM care. In fact. They’ve never even meet with Alabama midwives when drafting these restrictions.

From dancing in bars all night, sneaking wine bottles into movie theaters, traveling all around the country, supporting each other through heartbreak, job changes, relocations, and everything in between…to standing by your side as you married your love and now as you start your family…what a blessing it has been being your friend. I am so thrilled to watch you enter this new season of life and just know you’re going to be the best mother and (later in life) best friend to this beautiful baby. Can’t wait for little nugget to be here and to join the MFV tribe ❤️

p.s. I’m still down to sneak some wine into the movie theater whenever you are, Mama.

We casually took 50+ shameless selfies in front of the same scenery just to get that one acceptable (postable) photo we all liked.
