I had the amazing opportunity to gaffer for my one and only @soowanb ‘s short film, [Unattended Loneliness], DP’d by @ssss_won

Separated from the responsibility of the camera and the composition, I was able to fully delve myself into just shaping light with hi-power LEDs, tubes, tungsten, practical bulbs, gobos and mirrors, and it was the most fun I had on set recently! I also got to become a cop for a few hours, how cool!

Of course, I only have one person to thank for all these incredible pictures, @dhcinephoto 📸

Most thanks to my awesome G&E team, @sidhayakhanna @b.ese @akashpandit_dop @vlas_kostychev @xaviercaudilldp @jon_reza_ganji 🙏🏼

What an awesome weekend filming in LA!!! Thank you again Soowan for casting me in your short film! It was an absolute pleasure and honor to work alongside you and your whole team! You ladiez and gents ROCK! I’ll reiterate on here what I told you in-person—what we do in front of the camera is meaningless without you rockstars behind the camera! You all deserve recognition for the insane amount of energy you put forth and the hard work it takes to keep pushing your bodies to prepare each set for us! All of you, from the bottom of mii heart—thank you! And as small as this Cast was—amazingly talented! Thank you all for your passion, your tyme, your friendship and most importantly—your energy 🙏

I also had some tyme to catch up with an old friend that I met and worked with on a feature a few yearz ago. Rick Shaibani mah man, it was gr8 being able to have lunch with you and really connect. Thank you, Sir, for your tyme, your friendship and of course—your energy brother 🙏

How (easy it is) to use OPTICLEE in the field!

OPTICLEE comes in a pump dispenser bottle instead of a spray bottle to avoid having to spray a lens cloth/tissue, instead saturating the cloth/tissue by simply pressing down on the pump.

OPTICLEE was developed by cinematographer Jonathan J Lee while working as a full-time lens technician and on set as a camera assistant. Only after other camera assistants asked about his unique dispenser bottle lens cleaner and showed keen interest did he decide to make it into a small-batch specialty product specifically designed for camera assistants.

OPTICLEE is an acetone based, coating safe, professional grade lens cleaner made with ease of use in mind.

Developed by Jonathan J Lee, a Hollywood-based cinematographer and a lens technician, he first came up with the idea after encountering issues with other lens cleaners in the market.

As a lens technician, Jonathan came up with the perfect blend of solution for cleaning glass lens elements. A combination of acetone, isopropyl alcohol, detergent and more under a very specific ratio, this solution is gentle on the lens while effectively cleaning surface contamination, all while drying fast and leaving no streaks. Additionally, he purposefully avoided using harsh chemicals such as methanol to make the solution safe for everyday, external use.

I’ve always been struggling to shoot outdoors with my BMPCC 6K G1 due to the insane amount of infrared pollution I get when using ND filters. After dealing with it for over 5 years, and after frustrations I had during a recent shoot in the desert, I thought it was time for an upgrade. Doing my research, I found that the @kolarivision Upgraded IR Cut Hot Mirror was the top marker in this category, so I decided to give it a shot. The difference is night and day, even in the worst case scenario of stacking two strong ND filters, I’m getting only minor pollution, and the colors remain very true, especially in the greens. One side effect it has is tint; the image seems to come out a bit more magenta, and a +15-20 green compensation helps mitigate this color shift.

<SHD_Walkyrie> (2021)

Been re-colouring some of my old stuff.
I'd like to revisit this style and theme someday, but hopefully in a much bigger scale. Any form of accurate military gear seem to look dope AF on camera!
