Did you know Metal Gear on NES isn’t the original version? 🐍

In 1987, Hideo Kojima created the stealth masterpiece for the MSX2. The NES port arrived shortly after, but was made without his involvement resulting in massive map changes and even the removal of the actual Metal Gear!

Still, it remains an iconic piece of retrogaming history. Did you play it on NES or did you experience the MSX original? Let me know below! 👇

Rainy nights and random NES games just hit different.

I had never seen the movie The Hunt for Red October and honestly knew almost nothing about the game either until I started collecting. That’s one of the best parts of the NES library though. There are so many weird rentals and forgotten titles you never would’ve touched as a kid unless it was the only thing left at the video store.

Tonight feels like the perfect time to finally give The Hunt for Red October a shot. Rain outside, snacks beside me, and absolutely no idea what I’m getting into. Could be a hidden gem. Could be a complete disaster. That’s part of the fun.

And if things go completely off the rails, I’ll probably end the night raging at Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom instead.

Anyone here actually play this one back in the day or is this another game that vanished into the depths of the rental store shelves?
