Last weekend, I ran the 130km on the Icefields Parkway that connect Lake Louise to the Columbia Icefield.

Wait, what??????

I did not reach the initial distance I had set for myself which was to run all the way to Jasper. But in all honesty it feels as much of a success as if I had.

And I did ask myself if I was only saying that to convince myself I wasn’t disappointed or ashamed of myself for not reaching my first objective to run all the way to Jasper. And don’t get me wrong, there is a huge difference between 130 vs 230 km. But when I reflect on what mattered, when it came down to how much energy, effort and grit it required, to how deep I had to dig to make it to 130 km in the circumstances that we had : there was no difference.

Because after all doing hard things also means knowing when to take a step back and readjust your goals. It’s knowing how to adapt to a new reality and give it your all. It’s about recentering your objective according to yourself - and yourself only. It’s about knowing how to find true pride in accomplishing something that was not necessarily what you had in mind in the first place.

And that, he is my biggest win.
To be able to be proud of myself.
And to stubbornly believe that I, too, can do hard things.

If you ever wondered how non-ultrarunners can crew someone, ask them (plot twist: we still don’t know how). Yall showed up like 10 ppl and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. My heart is exploding.

BEYOND grateful to be supported by the coolest brands & people. Thank you for believing in myself & feeding my delusions. Still pinching myself everyday ugh.

Crazy weekend pacing @gabygab_ on the Icefields Parkway!! So much fun. The crew was crewing, legs were sore, Gab is a legend, the stars were shining, spaghetti wraps, insane views, vibes as high as the mountains, 130 km for Gab in 24 hours (!!!WTF!!!). So proud of her!!!

Also so proud of everyone—we couldn’t have had a better team. BRAVO!

Annnnd proud of myself for running ~70 km over those 24 hours 😇 Thanks, Gab and all the crew members, for making this happen. 💓
