A few moments from Mindset in Motion ❤️💛🖤🤍🐢

Last Monday, September 28, 2026, we kicked off UMD’s Mental Health Awareness Week with a conversation about mental health and performance, centered on our student athletes.

Thank you to our presenters, Dr. Marcus “Dr. Du” Dumas, a former Division I football student athlete who now leads athletic counseling services at Georgetown University, and Dr. Derek Vigon, a clinical and sport psychologist from the Counseling Center who has worked with collegiate and professional athletes, and is the founder of PSYCH BEATS. We’re grateful for the insight and practical tools they shared with our Terps.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thank you to @thegreeneturtlecp for sponsoring the event!

Same grit. Stronger minds. Go Terps! 🐢🧠💚

This week is Student-Athlete Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

A reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health—and you don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to take care of it.

Check in with yourself. Check in with your teammates. Know the signs. Know your resources. And remember: seeking help is a strength.

If you need support, reach out to your Clinical & Sport Psychology providers on campus. We’re here to support you—whether you’re struggling, navigating a tough season, or just need someone to talk to.

Save this post so you have these resources when you need them. 🧠💚

Attending the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Conference in Montréal was such a powerful reminder of the value of growth, both personally and professionally.

From sitting in inspiring sessions to reconnecting with mentors and meeting so many new people in the field, this experience reminded me how energizing it is to step outside your usual environment and invest in yourself.

Conferences like this provide space to learn from leading voices, reconnect with mentors, and build genuine community with peers across the field. For minority professionals, students, and those looking to pivot or reignite their passion, experiences like this can be transformational.

Beyond the sessions and research, it’s the people, the energy, and the shared purpose that make this work so meaningful. Feeling grateful, recharged, and inspired to keep growing. 🧠✨💚
