I thought about this my stubborn Ondo friend @dr_idontry , and I decided to put this here. I call him Captain Jydo; no, he isn’t a Captain yet, but he will get there someday soon.

I met Jide on my first day in University, in 2001. He was sweaty and looking dirty from playing five-a-side football. He walked into our room and introduced himself. Capt. Jydo is this bold and confident natural leader kinda guy.

In 2015, Jide visited @motunoj and I in Akure. He’d come in for a military wedding and stayed over at our little house. Night time, MO had gone to bed and Jide and I were ‘gisting’. I was at the kitchen washing the dishes while Jide was standing beside me drinking a stout. I felt the gist was getting more interesting and he didn’t have to stand so I rinsed off the lather from my hands and asked Jide that we should go to the sitting room. He asked me why. I said ‘nothing, I just want us to go sit, drink beer and continue our talk’. He said ‘no, finish the dishes first’. He said something like if it was my task to do the dishes, I shouldn’t stop just because he was there. Now, it wasn’t really my task, either of MO and I could have done the dishes, but I really like that Jide expected me not to pretend just because he was there.
If you have to pretend when with a friend, just think about it, is that really your friend?

I am putting this out here to celebrate my friend today, and to remind him he is deeply loved. #Bayosfriend #navaldoctor
