POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Finally the last parcel with the flashrom card for the Akai sampler arrived and I have finished my original 90ies rack. Big up to all the nice E-Bay sellers that did not sell any bullshit to me and to Violet Core for helping me out building the rack.

The multi outputs now go straight through a TLA valve compressor (perfect for bass, keys and percussive signals), a DBX 166 comp (a dream on drums and bass) or the SPL Vitalizer Stereo Jack (refreshes everything and makes a boring signal brighter and wider). I can also record through these devices before the sampler input, which sounds awesome! Additional I have two old school FX units which get signal from the Alesis rack mixer or from my bigger A&H mixing desk. The Midiverb 3, which I have repaired, sounds like a true 80ies effect and is super nice for drums or synths and the Sony DPS-V55M which is a very creative multi effect containing all the best Sony effect algorithms in one device with four in- and outputs and the option to use two algorithms at the same time parallel or serial. All units can also get signal from every mixing desk channel via insert cables.

I have soldered all cables by myself, planned a while to make the signal flow work perfectly and to be able to use these devices in different environments, bought new valves and had to wait 6 weeks for the Italian post, so this project took some time. Now lets get back to the music!

Found this modern Studio Classic on Ebay for a good price, like new. This is the more affordable Lexicon range, but it still sounds great and you can mix up two effect processors, which is awesome! My Alesis Midiverb 3 is no longer reliable, i guess it has seen enough studios and stages and has to go to retirement…

BASS FORWARD THE REVOLUTION CAST #15 - Scary Woods

For the fifteenth episode of our podcast we are excited to present the powerful sound of "Scary Woods", a duo formed by two of our resident DJs!

"Scary Woods" is an electronic-experimental producer and DJ duo from Hamburg that has focused on drum and bass. This project, consisting of "Violet Core" and "Dr Woe", exists since 2014 and brings conscious drum and bass and destroyer basslines on display.

The duo not only produces drum and bass but also downtempo tracks. Their deput EP "Pulse" was released in Septemer 2019 on "Insomnius Music" and reflects the different facets of their musical influences and abilities. Their latest single "Toxic Planet/Corruption" equally mirrors the diversity of the project, ranging from halftime to hard-hitting technoid drum and bass.

In their sets, "Scary Woods" combine own productions and unreleased "Insomnius Music" tunes, as well as the best that dark & heavy drum and bass has to offer.

Take a walk through the darkness with "Scary Woods"!
