🎍🇯🇵 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2O24 🇯🇵🎍
—————
Improv social dancing at 📍Asakusa, Tokyo

即興バチャトリオ 📍浅草

I was so happy that I was able to share a part of my culture with my favorite people @wooandillary in my hometown ✨ (look at my face in the vid LOL)

Hope to see you two again this year.. hopefully in AUS or somewhere in EUROPE 😝🫶🏼

Do you want to see more bachatrio?❤️‍🔥

🙏Milestone🙏
🥂5 YEARS 🥂

I vaguely remember when one of my teachers was talking about how long one shall normally take before stepping up into a teaching role and what actions one shall take and work on before the ‘Graduation’. Although there does not exist a universal ‘salsa & bachata school’ or a set pathway, I set the duration to 5 years for myself to sediment as much knowledge and experience as I possibly could.
Don’t get me wrong, the construct of the ‘school’ is always going to be there, regardless of whether you are teaching or not.
The past 5 years of experiences have always reminded me to stay true to myself, to constantly calibrate my own standard and expectation and fight off ego-inflation (this one is so TOUGH), to consistently adjust my own self-perception on my performance, and most importantly, learn to drown out and manage all the external noises regardless of any external societal and social expectation.
My favorite thing learnt is not a bachata or salsa move, nor basic step techniques, but
HOW to PROPERLY take ANY dance classes ✨

Thank you to ALL of my partners for this journey so far! Halfway there to hit that 10-year mark 🤜🏻🤛🏻 To my beloved community, I am very excited to continue the journey with you all in a slightly different role! I am looking forward to every bit that is to come.
