YAMAHA FAMILY . . .

Finally got around to putting together this tribute to my Dad that's been on my mind for years.

Joe Moto was not a perfect Dad but he loved to share his passion for racing especially Motocross with his sons.

Back in the 70's he caught the mx racing bug and raced on a wide variety of bikes like CZ 400, briefly on a TM 400 Suzuki, Yamaha YZ250, 1977 YZ400, 1980 YZ465 and his dream bike 1982 KTM495.

He'd help each son with mx racing and my first bike was an orange 1972 Yamaha Enduro 60 which led to a 78 YZ125 (my brother's old bike), then 1980 YZ250 and finally a 1984 YZ490.

Here is my Dad's #158 JT Team Yamaha jersey from his 1977 YZ400 and 1980 YZ465 racing days. Below are his Fox Racing blue/white gloves that he used in his final moto during the 1984 CMC Golden State Nationals at Carlsbad Raceway on his KTM.

At the bottom is my old JT racing Team Yamaha jersey used from 1982 to 1984. I raced my final race at the CMC Golden State Nationals at Saddleback Park in 1984, the same year Saddleback closed.

Keep the good memories alive.

ONE MOMENT . . .

This is why I have a passion for Photography.

One click captures one precious moment in life.

What was a seemingly regular Saturday afternoon on the front lawn, my grandfather knew the importance of capturing family events no matter how small.

My uncle John built this remote control airplane during his leg/hip recovery over many months. That plane build was immaculate. My brother Barry, neighbor kid and I are waiting to see if the gas engine is going to fire while Grandma is sitting on the front step overseeing everything.

I just love everything about this image - composition, content and emotional impact.

Excellent capture Grandpa

HEAVEN IS IN MY HEART . . .

Where Your Light, like dawn, creates a brighter future for all touched by its rays of sunshine.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Love shaped, and lives in my heart.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Beautiful Voice plays as a soothing tune without an end in my mind.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Smile is my smile; Your Laugh, my laugh and Your Tears, are now my tears.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Grateful Joy for Life overshadows my Heartbreak.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Family Devotion is now my devotion to family.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Passion of creativity lives through my Art.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Story continues to be written on my pages.

Heaven is in my Heart . . .
Where Your Goodbye is greeted with a Thank You for a wonderful life full of loving memories.

I Love You Mom 💞

CYCLING FOOLS . . .

Way back when I was thin and didn't get winded tying my shoes 🙃

My red, white, blue striped Trek jersey, Oakley sheild, with my Trek 1500 bike was the hot setup 👌 😎

Best buddy, Wes, in his yellow KAS jersey, didn't have a clue how much pain he was in for on the 50-mile Rosorita to Ensenada ride.

Brother @drbarrymarks in red was up for the challenge, as was @tomperrin4572 in his Peugeot jersey.

Dad in the middle, orange, white red jersey was in it for the beer 🍺 and street tacos 🌮

Adam thinks he's hot white in the polkadot jersey. He can't climb worth crap . . .

And there's John, the white helmet with a mustache way in the back, was a co-worker of mine that somehow got on the trip but was costly for him as he got rolled by a couple of ladies of the nite. Poor guy just wanted some attention after a couple of Coronas and a long bike ride.

A great family adventure for sure . . .

43 YEARS AGO . . .

A soft-spoken SoCal racer changed the world of motocross on June 22, 1980

The unlikely winner of this prestigious 500cc USGP was not surprised by his performance but confident in his home track environment.

1-1 scores by a privateer was unthinkable to many, but he believed it could be achieved.

Marty Moates did not let the doubters deter him but simply holeshotted each moto and beat all the world's best mx racers to the checker flag twice.

What a legendary day in motocross history.

THE OLD DAYS . . .

Fun in Ensenada with a bunch of crazy bastards 😜

50 mile bike ride makes the beer taste so much better.

I'm in the grey sweatshirt on the left, @tomperrin4572 then Wes with a puzzled look, Crazy Dave in the center, @bots962 with the big smile, @drbarrymarks way in the back, and finally Adam on the right.

Good Times we all survived.
