Wow. Literally all I can say is wow.

I directed and produced a show at 54 Below.

Glitter & Grit was created from the stories of the women in my life. The challenges they’ve survived, the ways they’ve helped me survive my own, and how they’ve helped me find my passion for performing. But it was also created for the women who don’t have a voice. The women who can’t perform, the women who are silenced, the women who are scared, the women who are abused, and the women who aren’t taken seriously.

We are them. They are us.

We contain multitudes.

This show became so much bigger than I ever imagined. It became a love letter to girlhood, to womanhood, to survival, to the women who raised us, the women who stood beside us, and the women who are still fighting to be heard.

Thank you, @reesehumphries1 , for being my music director and my soul sister. There is genuinely no one more perfect for this. You are a visionary, and I am so lucky I got to create this with you.

Thank you, @musical_valentina , for being our accompanist and sharing your work with us. You are a star, and we are so lucky to have had you be part of this.

To my cast: Thank you for trusting me, for sharing your voices, your hearts, and your stories. Thank you for showing up and giving this show a life of its own. I will never forget getting to stand beside you and watch this come to life.

To the women who take up space, who refuse to shrink themselves, who speak up even when their voices shake, and who make it easier for the women around them to do the same: Thank you. You are the reason we keep going.

To everyone who supported our fundraiser, thank you. We raised over $1,600 to directly support women’s shelters and women’s access to the arts. Knowing that this show can reach beyond the stage and make a tangible difference means more to me than I can explain.

Keep taking up space. Be the women you needed when you were younger. Tell your stories. Make your art. Refuse to be silenced.

Do it for the Jane Does.
