POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

September was a heavy month for me, but the @hamtramcklabordayfestival and @dallyinthealleydetroit kicking off the first two weekends of the month is always such a fun time, and I wanted to post these pictures while it’s still somewhat fresh.

What an August it’s been.

I feel like this month is always such a rollercoaster for me. So many emotions and feelings come to pass for me marking new beginnings and old ends. It feels like summer just started and I’m grasping desperately to hold on to savor every last moment.

So much happening and yet so many quiet personal moments. The dichotomy of it all is what makes it feel so special to me. A time of self reflection and introspection and a time of outgoing celebration, and I fall somewhere in the middle.

I look forward to fall, as bittersweet as it always is. I welcome the passage of time and the changing of the seasons.

Another year older and so much to show for it. It’s easy to get caught up in the minutia of it all. Being so busy one second that you just want time to catch your breath, and then before you know it you’re lazing about wondering why you’re not doing more with your time. What I’ve found in my 37 years on this planet is that no matter what I’m doing I’ll always want to push myself a bit further. My life has had so many moments of profound meaning and serene beauty that make time stand still and linger a little longer. Those deep breathes of fresh air that wash over you and make you feel like your whole life has been leading to that moment and you belong to this place and time and always will. And just as quickly as it comes it slips away, receding into the annals of memory.

August is my favorite month of the year, and yes I may have some bias as a Leo, but I also love the solemn sadness of it. Summer is setting, the days start to feel noticeably shorter, the sun takes on a golden glow as it sets. The first color in the leaves starts to peak through, as autumn creeps into the air.

There is more summer ahead and I have much to look forward to still, but I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the last year and even more specifically the last month or so when these pictures were taken and express gratitude for making it another rotation around the sun. Happy Leo season and may 37 be another wonderful revolution through the cosmos.

Summer is in full swing and the days a flying by. There’s something about going through recent photos to cull 20 that really summarizes time so succinctly. Replaying weeks in seconds and reliving the memories in your head. There’s still a lot of summer left, but damn it’s going quick and I just want to savor as much as I can. So grateful for all the wonderful people and memories in my life.

Detroit Music Scene meet Vern. He’s not on Instagram but plenty of people who know and love this wonderful man are. He is kind, and talented, and so loved. To everyone who knows and loves Vern, this share is for you. And to everyone who doesn’t know him, I hope this brings you a little joy. Vern, who also goes by Spoo Willaby is as wonderful as they come. And this hands down is one of my two favorite songs that he sings. I’ve heard so many, but I’ve only heard this one twice. Enjoy. 🩵🫶🏼🤍

My heart is relieved by the coming of spring. Seeing the sunlight again has such a profound effect on my mental health. This winter was dreadful, but good times were still had.

The changing of the seasons is always a strange time for me. I find myself reflecting on myself and life; the passage of time and the way I’ve chose to spend it. I often can get a bit overwhelmed and neurotic. Overthinking encounters and yet mindlessly aloof at the same time. This was a tough winter, but I still managed to have some really nice memories. Here’s hoping for a brighter spring.

Seeing Jeff Jablonski @yefferry play @bumbos_bar during the @hamtramcklabordayfestival was a special treat. He has been running around all weekend behind the scenes like so many other unsung heroes helping things run smoothly and make others shine, all while staying humble. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him better little by little over the last 3 years now and he is as sweet as they come and even more incredibly talented. I have always seen him play acoustic sets (which are my favorite) so it was so unique and special to hear him go electric and be accompanied by his band. Special shout out to the bass, drummer and saxophone who was killin’ it. The original songs had so many layers and special seasonings with attention to detail and thoughtful purpose to them, like everything our dear friend Jeff does. Please give him a listen and if you love what you hear like the rest of us do, please check out his residency sometime at the @ghostlightbar and show him some love. 🩵🫶🏼🤍

*and if you watch the end, there’s a cute little surprise that makes me smile*

Honorable mention to other local musician sightings supporting in the background.. please go check them out... if you look closely you can see them: @mckennafain @checker.hq @nicktoburen @catherinesclumsymusic @

Hamtramck Blowout 2026

What a fucking party that was. Thursday feels like an eternity ago, and I’m still buzzing from last night. I went to my first blowout two years ago (2024) and it blew me away. The very first venue I went to for my very first blowout was Polish Sea League, and I just remember being in this cramped little bar just dancing my ass off with my friends. So when I found out that this year Water Anxiety would be playing Polish Sea League I couldn’t have been happier. A huge thunderstorm rolled through just as we were setting up, which gave a new meaning to Water Anxiety for anyone walking to see us, and yet the place was still packed, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

The thing that I always love so much about the Blowout is that there is more good music than time. You literally have to make judgement calls on where to spend to be and it can be really hard. Everyone has their own blowup lineups and you bump into someone somewhere, or accidentally stumble upon a band you’d never heard before and find out they fucking rock, and before you know it, you’re hauling ass across town to catch the next set. I don’t know, it’s just a really special experience to me, and I’m so honored to have been a small part of this year’s lineup.

Huge shoutout to @hamtramcklabordayfestival on a job well done!
