Marhaban! We hope you all had a refreshing and fulfilling summer! ✨

Here’s a peek into who will be running MENAA this year. We may be small, but we’re mighty! We’re excited to help foster new friendships and bond with each other through our shared West Asian (Middle Eastern) and North African culture.

Be on the lookout for future posts regarding GBMs and special events! Bye for now :-)

Long time no see… before we get back to our regularly scheduled posting, we wanted to take an opportunity to showcase our new work study team for the 2025-2026 academic year!

Both of our employees are very excited to share their passion for Religious Studies through what they’ll post this year. Be on the lookout for our upcoming course posters later this week!

This year, we’re going to be doing a lot of free drawing time at our meetings with some workshops and events thrown in periodically. We have an “Art and Politics” collaborative event with @stetsoncollegedems in the works that will happen in September - be on the lookout for the flier! We’ll be sure to post events in advance of when they happen :)

Looking forward to an amazing and creative year with you all! 🖼️

Jigsaw Falling Into Place (2025)
Watercolor and Colored Pencil on Drawing Paper
9 x 12 in

-
I’ve been wanting to paint this since at least September of 2024. I promised I’d get around to it when I felt the timing was appropriate. I knew it was finally time last month.

A natural follow up to “A Reflection of Her”, Jigsaw Falling Into Place encompasses the sorrow and resentment of not being able to warn your past self of the harm that will inevitably come to them. Sometimes, pain is needed for growth and rebirth, but it will never not hurt in some capacity to have the reminder that your previous naïvety is gone forever. However, it is important to remember to not let these same painful reminders take over who you are. They are an indicator of your wisdom, strength, and truth. Just like every other jigsaw piece.
