@marcuscaston and I showing a jet lagged @drew.gilmore some mellow runs on his first day in Engelberg. šŸ˜‚ We were shooting some stuff for the @blizzard_tecnica Anomaly skis with @ricksorensenphoto and @vast_works, and were just getting into it. I was expecting some snow that would slow us down, but got icy moguls instead. Haha. Good fun. Sorry Drew.

Can you name the run?

Never been so proud to almost finish something. Last year I got it in my head that I wanted to run 100 miles… and so of course I picked what is considered to be one of the grittiest and hardest ultras as my first race ever. The @wasatch100 covers 100 miles of pretty rugged trails, and has over 24,000 feet of vert gained and 23,000 ft descending.

I made it through mile 50 ahead of my expected pace, and then hit some stomach troubles and tough vert overnight that slowed me down a lot. Coming into the mile 70 aid station, my time buffer to the cut-offs had shrunk a lot and I still had a long ways to go. There were some tears and a mini meltdown, and then I forced down a few potatoes and kept going. @drew.gilmore and I chased cut offs for the next 11 hours, and my race finished with a pretty epic push to try to hit the 90 mile aid station cut off. I ran as fast as I could going downhill on destroyed feet, and I yelled at Drew a lot (ā€œWhere is it?! Why haven’t we hit the aid station yet?! Drew, time check?!ā€). We got there about 10 min too late, and my Wasatch attempt officially ended at mile 90 and hour 33.5. Then I hobbled out another few miles to the car.

I’m in absolute awe of how many people (friends and strangers) showed up to support. The aid station volunteers had music and vibes going, and were literal beacons of light in my darkest hours. My three pacers were my heroes. Weston, @cmoody6, and @drew.gilmore ran with me for a collective 26 hours and handled my ups and downs with the best attitude. I would not have made it as far as I did without them. @hunterlee27 was up through the night, meeting me at aid stations and telling me how proud he was. And @yenn_a, @bzeebs, @franklinwoodworking, @ryan_walters, @annaleighmoo & @stephenshelesky showed up at aid stations, followed along, and met me at my personal finish with signs and laughs and hugs. I had over 100 messages on my phone from everyone following my tracking and cheering for me along the way.

Turns out ultra running is a team sport. Thanks you from my entire heart and soul to everyone who played a part in this insane adventure!
