If you would have told me a year ago that I would have been in contention for an Elite Podium at this race, I would not have believed you.

Last February I came into Red Rock Rampage with minimal training and a lot of confidence surrounding my first varsity showing, and I had a miserable day where I experienced the hardest bonk of my life. This year I was able to stave off the bonk thanks to some proper fueling and prep, but it was still a really tough day.

I started the day off in a really great position, bouncing around the front group and even leading the Pro field for a while, when on a ripping 30 mph descent on lap two, I made a mistake causing a sidewall puncture while in second place. While I had some room to breathe. The rest of the guys came and went quick, and I was running in the back by the time I made it back on course with a new wheel, and an incompatible cassette. Thanks to @drewdy_sends and @dawsonfonger for the pit stop! I pushed hard to make up positions, so hard that my rear axle came out on the fourth and final lap.

I still finished 6th on the day, despite the hardship and I think this was pretty exciting and I’m very happy with how this season is coming along. #tby

Big thanks to @intermountain_cup_official for holding such an epic early season race here year over year, no matter how many houses eat up the trail system 😵‍💫

🚲 NEW BIKE DAY! ✨
I’ve been so stoked to get to work with @jibebike on this super rad Fully XC build. I’ve been wanting to get back to doing more XC riding and racing this season so I’m really pumped to have a nice rig to do it on. Jason and the team from Jibe helped me spec out the components to my liking, and @drewdy_sends did the grunt work putting it together. (i totally helped), The finished product is probably the coolest bike I’ll ever get to ride. Huge thanks to Jibe for setting me up and for all they’ve done for @maybirdcycling and our riders, and huge thanks to andrew for putting everything together. I’m beyond excited for the many climbs and descents to come!
