Last night, I was honored as one of the 50 Women to Know in New Jersey… and somewhere in the middle of celebrating, something hit me.

I had forgotten who I was.

Not completely, of course. But you know how life happens.

You’re running businesses.
Solving problems.
Putting out fires.
Taking care of family.
Answering calls.
Showing up for clients.
Helping somebody else figure out what they need.
Trying to keep everything moving.

And somewhere in the middle of being everything to everybody… you can forget to stop and acknowledge yourself.

I hear it from so many incredible women around me, too.

Women who are brilliant.
Women who are accomplished.
Women who have built things from nothing.
Women who have survived things nobody knows about.
Women who everybody else looks at and says, “She’s got it together.”

And yet, sometimes, we still battle that little voice called imposter syndrome.

Then along came @theknowwomen and reminded me:

Girl… do you remember what you’ve actually done?! 😂

And I had to sit with that.

I founded and operate an award-winning wedding floral design company.

I created New Jersey’s first trending pink floral café and event experience, where people can literally come in, enjoy brunch, celebrate life in a beautiful floral and make their own fresh bouquets.

I opened an immersive Holiday Selfie Studio Experience, creating beautiful spaces where families come together to take their holiday pictures, make memories and visit Santa.

I created Bloom & Build, a summer enrichment experience for girls ages 10–18 focused on entrepreneurship, leadership, community, confidence and helping young girls understand the power of their own ideas.

And now, I’m opening Parlour & Vine—an intimate wedding and celebration venue created for people who want to experience luxury without needing a ballroom of 300 people to have it.

And when I really stopped to look at it all…

I said, “Maritza… you really have done some amazing things.”

Actually…

I’ve lived a pretty damn incredible life.

And I’m still building.

So this post isn’t just about an acknowledgement.

One random text turned into a whole new lane for me. 💍✨

My journey as a Wedding Officiant started with my friend Cakya. One Sunday, she randomly texted me:

“Hey, can you do the wedding thing for me?”

I was like, “Wait… WHAT?!” 😂

Who knew that one random request would blossom into something I genuinely love doing?

If you're new to my page, yes, I officiate weddings too! 💍 And somehow, every time I officiate a wedding, someone asks, “Can you host the reception too?” 😂 So yes, I’m available for both wedding ceremonies and reception hosting.

I already work with a few event planners who bring me in to officiate weddings for their clients, and I’m looking to build even more of those relationships.

Your curriculum may be preparing people to finish the program.

But is it preparing them for what happens after they leave it?

That distinction matters.

A polished curriculum, full schedule, and completed cohort can create the appearance of a strong program while a much bigger issue remains underneath:

The learning experience may not be built for the outcome the organization ultimately needs.

For workforce organizations, career-readiness programs, nonprofits, and colleges, that disconnect can affect more than the participant experience. It can weaken the overall value and credibility of the program you’re investing resources to deliver.

PPCA develops and strengthens curriculum for organizations that need their programs to do more than look good on paper.

The goal isn’t more curriculum. It’s curriculum worthy of the opportunity attached to it.

If you’re developing a new program—or questioning whether an existing one is strong enough for where your organization is headed—DM “CURRICULUM.”

When I saw this New York Post cover, I said WOW. Less than half?!

And this is exactly why I keep saying we have to do more than just tell children to read. Are they actually understanding what they're reading?

Years ago, I wrote That's the Way to READ, a reading comprehension guide that teachers can use right in the classroom. It has comprehension questions, different levels of questioning, guided and individual reading checklists, and worksheets that can be used with what students are already reading.
And I know it works.

Principal Dr. Marc Melody purchased the books in bulk for his teachers, they used the guide in their classrooms, and their ELA scores increased by 20%.

So when I see headlines like this, I'm reminded why I created it in the first place.

And with school starting back up, this is the time to get it into the hands of teachers.

I wrapped up another one-on-one strategy session today, and this is exactly why I love what I do.

Yesterday was absolutely amazing! 💍✨

I had the honor of officiating my first wedding of 2026, and honestly, I've lost count of how many weddings I've had the privilege to officiate over the years. What never changes is how powerful it is to stand with two people as they make a covenant before God. It is truly an honor that I never take for granted.
