Yesterday was such a special day as we celebrated the end of your cancer journey @blueeyedbootss 🤍

Cancer has stolen two of my closest family members over the past six months, so being able to celebrate you beating this bastard of a disease meant more than words can say 💙🎀

Here’s to new beginnings, making memories, and celebrating every milestone… proud of you!!

Life is short. It’s for living. So celebrate the wins, cherish the people you love, and never take a single day for granted. 🤍🎀

Day 4 in the heat chamber and today I could start to feel the adaptations. Temperature and heart rate control was much better, much more comfortably uncomfortable. Interesting to see and feel the changes whilst absolutely sweating buckets. 1.4kg lighter at the end of the session even after drinking 800ml of water. 42C and very humid in there and amazing prep for the Sahara!!!

This week’s episode is a collaboration between The Masterplan – A Journey to MDS and the This Mumma Runs Podcast.

We sat down to talk about all things running and ultras — the highs, the struggles, the mindset, and the reality behind the miles.

From early running journeys to the pull of ultramarathons, we dive into what keeps people coming back to the start line again and again.

One of the most interesting parts of the conversation is hearing the female perspective on endurance sport — balancing life, family, training, and the unique challenges and strengths women bring into the ultra-running world.

It’s honest, thoughtful, and full of the kind of conversations that only happen between people who genuinely love the sport.

If you’re a runner, thinking about your first ultra, or just fascinated by what drives people to push their limits, this episode is definitely worth a listen.

🎧 Listen in tomorrow 11th March from noon!

One of my own customers asked me on his podcast. Here’s why that matters.

David (@masterplan_pod ) is running the Marathon des Sables for the first time. He’s been using Phoenix Bars in training and wanted to properly break down MDS nutrition - so we spent an hour going deep.

What we covered:

→ Why most bars fail in the Sahara (heat, appetite suppression, palatability fatigue by stage 3)
→ The calorie maths most first-timers get badly wrong → How to test your gut before you’re 80km into the desert
→ Stage-by-stage fuelling strategy from real finisher data

The thing that struck me: there’s almost no structured nutrition advice built specifically for MDS. Plenty of generic ultra content - but the Sahara has demands most guidance doesn’t touch.

Weight limits.
50°C heat.
Multi-day cumulative fatigue.
Dehydration.

557kcal. 120g. Won’t melt. Soft enough to eat when your body’s shutting down. Can be made into porridge on camp mornings.

That’s why Phoenix Bars exist.

50+ MDS athletes carried them across the Sahara last year. Two MDS Expo talks. But one honest conversation with a first-timer preparing for the race cuts straight back to why I built this product.

Podcast episode + free MDS nutrition guide (stage-by-stage strategy, calorie calculations, pack weight breakdowns) - can be found on my website on the MDS page (link in bio!)

Time to take things up a notch and bring in some HEAT!!!!
7 weeks till race so starting to bring in some heat acclimatisation, another part of the process that I’m really looking forward to. It’ll be really hard but I’m interested in how it feels and the science behind it!!!! It will get a bit more scientific than this so stay tuned for SWEAT!!!!

Tonight definitely brought the Christmas Party Vibes. Lovely office party with @susie_chan_ at @pelotonstudios - great leaderboard of friends and some amazing in studio vocals from @susiesstriders. Always great to see the fabulous PSL studio team who make the experience what it is. May even think of putting the tree up now Whamageddon got me 🎄

From 7K to over 100km through the desert, we had solid runs from the team with PB’s and podiums a plenty! Well done on grinding it out in the elements to reach your finish line and smash the post race burgers and cake because let’s be honest that is what it is all about 💪🏻
