The response to my post about starting a local networking group without the big membership fees was awesome. So now it’s time to actually get together.

🥂 Our first Networking Happy Hour is TOMORROW at Black Lamb Chef Table along with @heartofcorpus
and @thirdcoastoysters!

No dues. No pressure. Just local business owners and professionals getting together, making connections, and seeing where this thing can go.

📅 Wednesday, October 7
⏰ 6:30–8:30 PM
📍 Black Lamb Chef Table

Come have a drink, meet some people, tell us a little about what you do, and help us kick this thing off.

Hope to see you there!

Corpus Christi business owners — just tossing this idea out there…

What if we created a local networking group through CC Events Calendar and @shoplocalcc?

Meet once a month. Meet other local business owners. Make some connections. Support each other.

And NOT have to spend a ridiculous amount of money just to be part of a networking group. 😂

Nothing complicated. Just good local businesses connecting with other good local businesses.

Would you be interested? Drop a comment or message me. 👇

💙 Sip for a purpose! 💦

Today we stopped by Blooms & Brew to celebrate Water Safety Celebration Week with Annie and their special Blue Razz Water Safety Refresher! 🫐🌊

The sweetest part? 100% of the proceeds from this refresher are going directly to our Float It Forward Scholarship Fund, in partnership with the Hope Floats Foundation. 🛟

The Float It Forward Scholarship Fund helps provide local children with access to life-saving survival swim lessons—because finances should never be the reason a child misses out on learning skills that could save their life.

This is exactly what this week is about: local businesses, families, and our community coming together to make water safety more accessible and keep our children safer around water.

A huge thank you to Annie and the entire Blooms & Brew family for using what you do to make a difference. 💙

Stop by, grab a Blue Razz Water Safety Refresher, and sip for a purpose! 💦🫶

Swim. Float. Breathe.
Safe today. Strong for life. 🛟

💧 IT CAN HAPPEN IN LESS THAN 30 SECONDS.

No splash. No scream. Sometimes, no warning at all.

That’s why 20+ Coastal Bend businesses and organizations are coming together Sept. 14–20 for Fall Into Water Safety: Coastal Bend Water Safety Celebration Week. 🌊❤️

Throughout the week, local businesses will host special events, giveaways, water-safety activities and fundraisers supporting the Float It Forward Scholarship Fund, helping local kids get access to potentially lifesaving survival swim lessons.

From special drinks and water aerobics to a Floating Pumpkin Patch, there are plenty of ways to get involved — while helping spread a message every Coastal Bend family needs to hear:

See what’s happening, meet the participating businesses and learn how you can get involved:

It took less than 30 seconds.

I turned around to grab some pool toys, and my daughter — who was strapped into her stroller with her floaties on — was already underwater. No splash. No sound. Just gone.

She's okay. But that scare changed how I think about water safety, and it's why I wanted to sit down with Yvette Segovia from Safe and Strong Swim Academy for this episode of Calendar Connections.

We talk about her Fall into Water Safety campaign (Sept 14–20), the "layers of protection" every family needs, and why survival swim lessons cut drowning risk by 83%. If you live near water — and in the Coastal Bend, we all do — this one's worth your time.

Water safety doesn’t have a season. 💙🌊

Here in the Coastal Bend, water is part of our everyday lives—from backyard pools and beaches to boating, fishing and weekends spent along the coast. And when summer ends, the need for water safety doesn’t.

That’s why I’m so proud to introduce Fall Into Water Safety: Coastal Bend Water Safety Celebration Week, happening September 14–20.

For one week, we’re bringing families, local businesses and community partners together around one shared mission: raise awareness, educate families and help give more local children access to lifesaving water safety skills.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing water safety education, highlighting our incredible Official Water Safety Partners, creating opportunities for our community to get involved, and supporting the Float It Forward Scholarship Fund in partnership with @hopefloatsfoundation

But my hope is that the conversation doesn’t end on September 20th.

Because keeping our children safer around water takes all of us—and together, we can create a more water-wise Coastal Bend. 💙

Safe today. Strong for life.
