I tried to get sober by myself. Four times.

Every time I hit the valley, I told myself I was broken.

Psychologists map this as the Emotional Cycle of Change:

1. Uninformed Optimism (feels easy)
2. Informed Pessimism (stress hits)
3. Valley of Despair (dreading every future celebration without a drink)

That third stage is where I quit. Four times.

The fifth time, I stopped white-knuckling it alone and got help.

Six months later, my dad died. My first kid was born around the same time. Because I was sober, I got to be a source of support for my family instead of another burden.

That was the turn.

Now, I don’t think about alcohol. I’ll even pour one for you.

Here’s what helped me turn the corner: having somewhere to go beats having something to quit. Standing at a holiday party nursing tap water is brutal.

So I built replacement rituals:

‣ Morning: mushroom cacao
‣ Afternoon reset: sparkling adaptogen
‣ Nightcap: zero-proof spirit

My full lineup is on slide 11. At parties, I keep a drink in hand. Soda water with cranberry and a straw. Nobody asks questions, and you remember every conversation the next morning.

I’m putting together a guide on healthy holiday alternatives. What brands are in your rotation?

Before THC beverages became one of the hottest conversations in the industry, the founders of Amigos were already building in the hemp space. 🌿🥤

For them, moving into THC beverages wasn’t a random pivot it was a natural progression.

We talk about what they learned from hemp, why beverages became the next move, and how the consumer is shifting toward a new kind of social drinking occasion.

From hemp ➡️ THC ➡️ what could be the next major beverage category.
