Just driving.

A 200+ miles-covered Saturday spent in northern New Jersey reminded me why the length of the drive shouldn’t be a deciding factor when it comes to going to an event.

Serious metal popped out for this year’s European Vacation, but they weren’t the stars of the show. Grassroots shows me that it’s always about the people over the cars. I got together a good group of friends and saw some more that took advantage of the great weather to show out to a show by the group that truly brings the community together in some of the best ways possible.

I found myself taking the AMG to Wallisch Homestead for my first European Vacation, surrounded by the warm colors of autumn and views that I never would’ve thought the Tri-State Region would offer. It also made me realize I need to explore even further out of my comfort zone and do some really cool drives next summer.

I want to thank Eric and John and all the boys from Grassroots for the invite to come out and for putting on a great afternoon of good food, great vibes, and a location to die for; on top of a reason to get out and drive on four hours of sleep.

When it’s to go see my good friends who’ve made this community worth giving my all to, I’m never hesitant.

An invite to tag along with a friend and some last minute decisions led me to probably one of the coolest nights ever with the boys in NYC.

One of my biggest inspirations getting into photography was Larry Chen, and after hearing that he was in town for Rare Shades (which I unfortunately was not able to make it to earlier in the day) I was excited to see that he had come to NY to capture our car scene.

Last night was the complete other end of the spectrum from my usual antics with supercars and more high-end events. It wasn’t a night of racing and recklessness, rather it was a get-together of how truly diverse the car culture of NYC is, complimentary to the diversity of the population in its own. I rode along rather than bringing one of my own vehicles out, so that I could sit back and enjoy the night. Capturing each and every bit of the night from the Jersey Underpass to Hamilton Heights, meeting some really great people, and even reconnecting with friends I don’t see too often because of the distance.

Was it worth walking in the door on Long Island at 3AM and starting my Sunday late? 110%. Would I do it again? Absolutely.
