Some meetings are simply too important to miss.

Skin of Color Updates is one of them.

Representation matters in the patients we study, the research we conduct, and the care we deliver. But it also matters in the voices, perspectives, and experiences shaping the future of dermatology.

It’s something I think about often with LEADderm, too. Who gets seen? Who gets heard? Whose ideas get a chance to become something more?

Because better dermatology isn’t just about new treatments. It’s about broadening our perspectives, challenging how we think, and making sure no one is missed.

Grateful for the science, the conversations, the colleagues who challenge and inspire me, and yes, a little NYC magic along the way.

What an unforgettable day for Milwaukee! 💛

We’re still smiling after yesterday’s WISN Day of Giving and reflecting on everyone who came together to make such a meaningful difference for the Daisie Foundation and the people we serve.

A heartfelt thank-you to WISN 12 News for sharing our story, amplifying our mission, and providing this special opportunity to reach even more people throughout Milwaukee. To Old National Bank, we deeply appreciate your generosity, partnership, and continued belief in our work.

We’re equally thankful for our amazing Daisie Foundation Board and every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart. We truly could not have done it without you!

Together, we raised $10,072.12, and Old National Bank generously matched $10,000, bringing the WISN Day of Giving total to $20,072.12! 💛

And because so many people came together, we will be able to invest in four Milwaukee schools—granting our two remaining Celebrating 10 School Wishes and creating Holiday Magic experiences for two additional schools this December. 🎄✨

This is the power of giving back—creating opportunities of hope and making a lasting difference for students, teachers, staff, and schools.

Milwaukee, we are beyond grateful for the love you showed Daisie and the communities we serve. There is so much more ahead! 💛

This weekend I was asked to come to Atlanta for the @ucb_usa Power House HS Summit and speak on a panel with some esteemed leaders in the HS community. I got a chance to advocate for skin of color and really talk about the transformative community we are building over at @theahsid.

Moments like this make me so grateful for the pivot I took in 2022, from journalism into nonprofit work. I’ve had the chance to heal other people but all of these amazing humans around me have healed me. I was so so lonely and confused and when I’m hurting I turn to help others because if I’m suffering, at least I can make someone else’s life worthwhile. That’s the medicine.

This community around me has allowed me to tear down my walls, pull off the masks and be vulnerable and mirror back to me the space we are actively creating.

My heart is full and my soul is grateful for the authenticity that lives in the #hidradenitissuppurativa community.

Thank you UCB for bringing us together for another year of community and connection. May everyone know what it feels to be loved for who your are through and through.

Until next time 💕🫶🏾🤗

Ain’t we cute?

What does a Legislative Conference actually look like?

It’s a few days of learning how policy written in Washington translates into what happens every day in our exam rooms — followed by a day on Capitol Hill sitting down with legislators and their staff and explaining what those decisions could mean for our patients, our practices, and our ability to provide care. This year, much of the conversation centered on proposed changes to Medicare physician payment and the growing disconnect between the cost of running a medical practice and what physicians are reimbursed for providing that care.

Those percentages and payment formulas can sound abstract until you give them a human face: the dermatologist trying to keep an independent practice open, the nurses and medical assistants who care for our patients, and most importantly, the patient who needs timely access when they have a changing mole, severe inflammatory disease, or a skin cancer that needs treatment.

That’s what I love about advocacy — bringing the reality of patient care to Capitol Hill and making sure the people writing health policy understand how those decisions ultimately reach our exam rooms.

Because health policy doesn’t stay in Washington. Eventually, it walks right into our exam rooms.

Some names make you stop scrolling. These five belong on your calendar. 👀

Kristina Collins. Lisa Swanson. Elizabeth Kiracofe. David Cotter. Diego Ruiz DaSilva.

They’re joining the Elevate-Derm Fall faculty, bringing the conversations dermatology PAs and NPs need more time to have.

How do we make JAK risk discussions more useful for patients? What changes when pregnancy enters the treatment conversation? And where does AI actually fit in dermatology?

Then there’s the business of building a practice you want to work in. Yes, we’re going there, too.

Meet five of the voices behind the agenda, and tell us which topic you want us to preview first. 👇

📍 Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa | Austin, TX
November 4–8, 2026
Up to 27 CME/CE hours

Early Bird registration is $199 through October 12. Full agenda and registration at the link in our bio.

The big event of summer! 🌸✨ Floral garden party style. 💐

Celebrating Scott Drew’s 65th birthday AND his daughter Delaney’s engagement to Spencer made for one very special night. 💕🥂

Friends, family and colleagues all gathered together to celebrate what matters most in life—love, friendship and being surrounded by incredible people. It was truly a magical evening!

Between work travel, recording podcasts and getting ahead before even more travel coming up, it’s been a busy season. But I’m soaking up these last days of summer because they mean my FAVORITE season is almost here… FALL! 🍂

What’s your favorite season? Summer, fall, winter or spring?

That’s a wrap on our BYOMA Derm Drop-Ins 🧡

From Coral Springs to Dallas to Chicago, getting to meet our community IRL will always be one of our favorite parts of what we do. Thank you to everyone who stopped by @ultabeauty, chatted all things skin with us and made each stop such a special one.

Another year of Hair Health Summit is in the books! What began as a strong desire to improve dermatologic education on hair disorders has turned into a labor of love💕. I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support from my friends and colleagues and the enthusiasm from everyone who attended Hair Health Summit. I can’t wait until next year!

Special shout out to my co-director and sister, @hairwithdrmare. I seriously could not imagine doing this with anyone else in the world. I will cherish the memories we have made forever and ever✨
