Madison McVey (@madi.mcvey) is a New York based dancer originally from West Palm Beach, Florida. She earned her BFA in Modern Dance Performance from the University of Oklahoma (OU), where she trained under renowned faculty members Roxanne Lyst, Glenn Edgerton, Leslie Kraus, Austin Hartel, and Gildas Lemonnier. During her time at OU, Madison had the opportunity to perform works by acclaimed choreographers Alfred Dove, Camille A. Brown, Baye & Asa, and Robert Battle. Prior to attending OU, Madison studied at A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she received extensive training in modern, ballet, and jazz under Branndi Lewis, Heather Lescaille, and Gary Q. Lewis. Following her graduation from OU, Madison began her professional dance career with Banyan Dance Festival, founded by Branndi Lewis, where she performed a new work by Sean Aaron Carmon. Madison is thrilled to join PCDC for their upcoming season and looks forward to continuing to grow as an artist and performer.

Sky Poole (@skypoole_ ), originally from Augusta, GA, began their dance training at Colton Ballet School under the direction of Zanne Colton and Bon Ellis. They decided to continue their dance training at the University of Georgia, where they graduated with a B.A. in Dance and a minor in Social Work in May of 2025. Post graduation, they danced in Portland, Oregon, with Open Space Too, where they performed works by Ching Ching Wong, Noelle Kayser, Meredith Webster, and the Open Space Dance director, Franco Nieto. Sky has performed works by David Dorfman, Mike Tyus, Gianna Burright, Christian Denice, Maria Colusi, and Nicole Von Arx. They moved to New York in March of 2026 and are excited to take the stage with Peridance Contemporary Dance Company this season!

Meet our wonderful new understudies 🫶

We’re thrilled to welcome @_thylan and @drkl13 to NVA & Guests! Derek is a Queens-born Chinese-American multidisciplinary artist and Boston Conservatory graduate. I first met him through MOVE|NYC| a few years ago, and he danced in the work I created at the Conservatory last fall. Thy-Lan is a Brooklyn-born performer and creator who studied Dance and Architecture at Barnard, with a practice spanning dance, theatre, and screen. We’re so happy to have them both in the room!

It’s happening! 😎 “The Room We Carry” premieres November 5-7 at @3amtheatre in Queens, NY.

This new evening-length show is the first chapter of “YOUTH”, a dance-theatre duology.

While making this work, I’ve been thinking about the teacher, the person at the front of the room, who we listen to, question, and learn from during some of our most formative years. As an artist who teaches often, I think a lot about that role. And as someone who makes and shares performances, I find myself asking similar questions. A theatre is, in some ways, like a classroom… People gather to watch and listen, sometimes to participate. There is power in holding their attention, and massive responsibility in what we choose to share.

But what happens when the person at the front of the room is given new rules about what they can teach, perform, or say? How do they continue to make space for others when the room itself begins to change?
