Our voices matter. Our power is in our hands. New York Attorney General Letitia James stopped by Abyssinian Baptist Church with an important reminder: make your voice heard! Whether you vote early or show up on Election Day, make a plan to participate. Every voice matters, and every vote is an opportunity to shape our future. Your voice. Your power. Your vote. #LetitiaJames #EarlyVoting #ElectionDay #election2026

Iron sharpens iron. ⚔️🙏🏾 This morning, the men of Abyssinian answered the call. Fathers, sons, grandfathers, and young men filled the room to capacity for our Inaugural Men’s Prayer Breakfast, proof that when men gather in prayer, something powerful happens. Pastor Kevin R. Johnson had a vision: men standing shoulder to shoulder, lifting one another up before God. Today that vision came to life. Brothers came with open hearts, shared their prayers, and Pastor will carry every one of them to the throne. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg reminded us that strong men build strong families, and strong families build strong communities. 💪🏾 Young brother, you are not alone. Father, your example matters. Brother, your prayers are heard. We honored men whose lives model service, leadership, and faith in action, our Distinguished Service Honorees: 🏅 Dr. Yusef Salaam, NYC Council Member, District 9 🏅 Trustee Robert Gore, Abyssinian Board of Trustees 🏅 Detective Rasheme Denton, Community Affairs, NYPD 32nd Precinct 🏅 Bro. Clifford B. Simmons, Founder, Blue Nile Passage, Inc. 🏅 Bro. Doug Thornton, President, Accredited Limousine Service 🏅 Bro. Henry “Hank” Carter, Founder, Wheelchair Charities, Inc. 🏅 Bro. Billy Carter, Founder, Sonday Dinner Thank you to our Men’s Ministry Chairs, Deacon Michael Deas, Trustee Javon Phillips, and Bro. David Banks, for leading the way. This is only the beginning. Bring your son. Bring your father. Bring your brother. We’re building something together. 🙌🏾 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 #AbyssinianBaptistChurch #RevKevinJohnson #MensPrayerBreakfast #MenPray #IronSharpensIron 📸: @bobleicashooter

Back in New York just in time for Men’s Day Sunday Service! Real talk: I stepped away from dancing years ago because I couldn't stand the touring lifestyle, but God clearly had other plans. Now, as Artistic Director of Dance Theatre of Harlem, touring is right back on my plate—it just comes with the territory now. "Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done..." It feels so good to be home for my first Sunday back after truly remarkable performances in Washington, D.C. and Morocco! Original post Credit to @abyssinianbc It’s Men’s Week at Abyssinian Baptist Church, and we caught up with the Men’s Choir after rehearsal to find out which songs they’re enjoying the most! From the rehearsal room to Sunday morning worship, these brothers are getting ready to lift their voices in praise! 🙌🏾 #MensWeek #AbyssinianBaptistChurch #Harlem #SundayWorship

“Ethiopia shall stretch forth her hands unto God.” Psalm 68:31 🇪🇹🙌🏾 Generations ago, Emperor Haile Selassie walked into Abyssinian. This Sunday, his grandson, His Imperial Highness Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie, walked in too. 👑 Standing with him was Adam Clayton Powell IV, heir to a name that helped build our beloved Abyssinian. History didn’t repeat itself. It returned home. 📍 132 Odell Clark Place, Harlem 🔗 Watch the full service at abyssinian.org #AbyssinianBaptistChurch #RevKevinJohnson #Harlem #Ethiopia #AdamClaytonPowell
