As a Black Woman 🖤, I get to observe two meaningful months back to back.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And I pivot from Black History Month into Women's History Month.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I've been pondering this quote by Maya Angelou since the day of the Russia-Ukraine crisis. ⁣⁣
I'd like to use the words of the Incomparable Maya Angelou, a Badass Black Woman Poet, to shout out encouragement to Ukrainian Women💙💛 and Russian Women❤️🤍.⁣
⁣⁣
I have friends from both places and they've shared how much their hearts and gut have been aching. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And I ache for them.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I spent some time in Russia with an amazing Russian family including that phenomenal woman head of the family who left a mark in my heart. As I think of how she took care of me, of the grace she had toward me, I also think of my Ukrainian friends in agony. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As Maya wrote and I quote:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated."⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Drop some hearts below to encourage others: 💛💙❤️🤍⁣⁣⁣

Common dental Terminology aka words or terms we use very frequently in a dental office. Save for later ⁣
⁣
Just because we dentists post a lot about porcelain veneers or invisalign or snap on dentures doesn't mean that's all we do.⁣
⁣
I use VERY BASIC dental language to talk to my clients and patients. By basic, I mean more basic than 3rd grade. However. I have clients who have a very high dental IQ,... nah… not because they have an advanced university degree. ⁣
⁣
Some have simply done a lot of research before coming to see me and have lots more space in their brains to take in more and ask for more. So, I speak to them at a higher level. ⁣
⁣
No, they're not picky or super difficult or a pain. They just have a high dental IQ. And yes, it takes me the same amount of time to talk to them. Honestly, sometimes I find it easier to share info with high dental IQ clients because they're like sponges who take the info quickly. ⁣
⁣
No, I don't talk their ears off. I don't talk endlessly like I have nothing else to do. I can give a ton of info in 60 seconds or more.⁣
⁣
WORD TO THE DENTAL STUDENT AND DENTIST: I recommend you get a sense for what your patient wants to know and go along with that. ⁣
Never assume they want to hear a bunch of dental jargon. ⁣
Never assume they're not interested. ⁣
If you're not sure, just ASK THEM. ⁣
⁣
WORD TO THE DENTAL PATIENT ⁣
Show interest in your dental health.. Don't expect your dentist to tell you everything at the dental visit. Haven't been to the dentist's in a while? Come prepared. ⁣
⁣
Nope, we're not asking you to be Dr. Google. Think about what your smile means to you and share quickly and be open to recommendations. ⁣
⁣
SO TELL ME (save this post) ⁣
when was the last time you had a dental checkup? ⁣
OR⁣
what's your dental IQ like (low, middle of the road, advanced) ⁣
⁣

I've lived my life with a lot of barriers put up, but I’ve learned to tear them down and wow, it feels so darn amazing. So whatever you may be thinking of me right now, I don't care. Ha! 😱⁣
⁣
I want to know what barriers you are putting in place. 🧱⁣
⁣
Precisely, what's keeping you from getting the dental care you deserve and need. ⁣
⁣
Money?⁣
Time?⁣
Fear of pain?⁣
⁣
So tell me, what’s keeping you from care? ⁣
Seriously, let me know! ❤️💚⁣

World Ballet Day. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I have many teasons not to smile today but I have way more reasons TO SMILE. Not the dentist in me talking though.⁣ I have lots to be thankful for.⁣
⁣⁣
When I think how I started ballet as an adult a few years ago, and how I had no idea that ballet would put a smile on my face...always. I can't help but smile.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Having a rough time? Facing adversities, trials and challenges while the world carries on like they forgot about you ⁣

I've been a practicing dentist for nearly two decades and I've seen a lot of different combinations. I'm proud to say I've never spoken bad of another colleague, ie another dentist. I just don't do it. I don't. Period.⁣
⁣
READ ON OR SAVE TO COME BACK⁣
⁣
Be empathetic to the client's concern⁣
⁣
Listen with intention ⁣
⁣
Listen with care⁣
⁣
Don't dismiss the client's concerns ⁣
⁣
Show that you understand without showing you agree with what they're saying.⁣
⁣
SPECIFICALLY⁣
If it's something so horrible (allegedly) that you feel convicted, don't show that you agree; after all you only have one version of the story. Ask some contact info of that dentist, preferably with discretion. Then reach out to them and get their version. Share with them with care and not judgment what you heard if you feel compelled to.⁣
⁣
If you see some dentistry that is very concerning to you, don't say anything negative about the treatment. The truth is you don't know the situation. You don't even know if they did that particular dental work, what the client paid for, if it was temporary, etc⁣
⁣
Whenever you get the chance, say something positive about the work of other dentists. If you don't want to day something positive, don't say anything at all and listen instead ⁣
⁣
Don't as in DO NOT throw them (other dentists) under the bus. Nope! Don't do it!⁣
⁣
If you get in a situation and would like input. feel free reach out to me. I'd be glad to talk to you or just listen and/or encourage you.⁣
⁣
When all else fails, do unto others as you would want them do unto. Basically, respond to clients the way you'd want other dentists to do for you or about you.⁣
⁣
Comment emoji or something awesome if you support this as client/patient/guest or dental professional! ⁣

Do not start this quarter before reading this!⁣⁣ ⛔⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I hear it's 4th quarter aka fourth quarter aka Q4 aka last quarter of the year. And it's Monday⁣⁣ ✅⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Soooo ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Are you ready for some Monday Motivation as you tackle this quarter? ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Do what you love. ⁣⁣⁣
Help others. ⁣⁣⁣
Smile. ⁣⁣⁣
Rinse and repeat. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Yes. That's all ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
In other words, what I'm saying is let's get back to simplicity when we loved our neighbors or at least thought about it. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
We thought of saving the world even when we knew we couldn't.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
We got up early to work the land at the crack of dawn because we loved what we did and we couldn't let our loved ones down.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
We smiled, not a fake one because we were kind.⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
We helped each other out. Do we still do that these days? I mean help another regardless of where they came from, their pocket, their level of fame, their connections, not because we want something in return or because we can show it off on social media. Hmmm..pondering this one right?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
LET'S SAY IT AGAIN!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
Do what you love with all your heart. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Help others genuinely. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Smile always. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Rinse and repeat until it works out. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
QUESTION ⁣
What gets you through the day? What will get you through this quarter?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
ME: ⁣⁣
--Keep hustling. Love what I do even when I don't do what I love.. ⁣⁣
--Keep helping others. Look into myself and ask myself why I help them.⁣⁣
--Smile even when I don't see a reason to because there's always a reason for me to smile...somewhere in my life.⁣⁣⁣

Gratitude Sunday. Don’t take my word for it! I know I talk about my service from time to time, how I can make a positive difference for you and in your life with porcelain veneers and/or invisalign, etc. ✔✔ ⁣⁣

Don’t get porcelain veneers without reading this! Your pocket as in your money will thank you for it. 😱🦷⁣
⁣
When I place those veneers for my clients, I want them to last a long time. So, I give what you need to give you the best chance in taking care of them. After all, they're not cheap, you worked hard to pay for them. Right!?!⁣
⁣
No time to read this? Save for later!⁣
⁣
If you miss part 1 of this series, scroll down my feed to find it and save it.⁣
⁣
I get many questions about overall health, not just teeth🦷, smile makeovers, porcelain veneers, dental implants, invisalign, etc, not just the typical stuff that you assume a dentist would get. 😱⁣
⁣
It’s particularly gone up since the “re-opening” after the pandemic hit. Clients are usually surprised that what happens in their bodies will affect what goes on in their mouth; what goes in your mouth will affect what’s going on inside your body as in foods and vitamins. 🦷⁣
⁣
✅ Yeah! Really!! Those PORCELAIN VENEERS will not last, yep you’ll get cavities around them, if you don’t take care of them, which includes taking great care of your body, eat right, exercise, vitamins. ⁣
⁣
✅ Yeah! Really! That CALCIUM that sounds so simple is very important. How about PHOSPHORUS? Do you think about it at all?⁣
⁣
⁣
Disclaimer: This is not meant to be official medical/dental advice. Consult with your dentist or physician or nurse or nutritionist or health coach. It’d be a good idea to get your blood work checked before you start taking vitamins.⁣
⁣
⁣
Now swipe all the way and save for later!⁣
⁣
⁣
QUESTION FOR YOU ⁣
⁣
Are you getting enough calcium and/or phosphorus? ⁣
If not, which one of the food do you plan to add to get your calcium/phosphorus?⁣
