I’ll be stepping down at the end of this month from my involvement with DIA, in order to focus on the commitments I’ve made in my professional and personal lives. 🙏🏽
I’m grateful for the many opportunities my social media platform continues to give me, and I am excited to redouble my commitments to the new practice @ammdental that I purchased last year. It’s also important for me to make the most of my work/life balance, so that dentistry and my personal life can both grow and prosper.
Shoutout to the other DIA founders for the amazing community we’ve brought together and celebrated! Shoutout to Shane, @implantmba, who will be taking my spot in the organization. And thanks to everyone who has made DIA a great success in its first two years. 🙌🏽
I’m forever thankful for the friendships I’ve made with you all through DIA, both on social media and IRL.

ON - “DEFINING SUCCESS”

Have no fear of perfection, you will never reach it - Salvador Dali.

What are we striving for in an esthetic case? Perfection? Or success?
Years ago, I would have told you they are one and the same.
Now, over the years I have come to understand that the two may overlap at times ,but mostly, - the two words are worlds apart.
I have delivered some cases in my lifetime, that I thought were “pretty perfect” 😬 , yet the patient did not feel that way. So were they really successful?
This case, was a challenging case due to severe bone and tissue loss and scarring.
The patient however, is one amazing , sweet and patient lady who understood that tissue shaping would take a long time to accomplish due to scarring and it would not be possible to achieve “perfection” due to significant bone loss.
Luckily, she has a low lip line and reasonable expectations and was beyond thrilled with the results.
I get referrals for some challenging cases. The key to success, i have found , is making sure we "Define” success from the get go. And “defining” comes down to “Communicating” . In this case, I used traditional wax-ups to discuss various options and outcomes.
I recently got an Itero scanner ( well, half of it. Bottom 1/2 is still not here 🙄😩😂) Going forward, a digital wax up would be an amazing tool for me in cases like these, where one can discuss various scenarios for success( veneers 7,9,10 with 8 implant crown or 9 with composite bonding on the mesial etc etc ) much more efficiently.
So, over the years, I have learned that I should not only continue to improve my technical skills as a clinician but in order to have “successful outcomes”- the key is also to continue to look for tools that will help me communicate better with my patients. Tools that help us be on the same page as we discuss outcomes and establish the definition of success for that case.
Have you experienced that perfection does not always equal success in dentistry? How do you define success? Would love to hear my colleagues experiences.

REJUVENATION 💉 A couple weeks ago I went to see @drmichaelatozzi to get some @dysportusa and @juvederm and I totally love my results🥰 i’ve been getting injections since I was 24 and although a lot of it was trial and error, Dr. Tozzi was extremely thorough with communicating what I wanted to see👍 she also allowed me to come back for a little touchup 💋 overall my appearance hasn’t changed but I do look more relaxed considering my face is very expressive 😉 Most of all I really love the way my smile turned out by plumping my lips❤️ she did a fantastic job and I highly recommend👌🏽
thank you so much for taking care of me as always girl @drmichaelatozzi 💕💕💕
