After all, during our 2 weeks exploring it, the word we said the most often was “WOW!”

tbh, it was hard to keep our eyes on the road because the landscapes were just insane! 🤩

💦 Zhinvali Reservoir - A stunning artificial lake famous for its breathtaking scenery and crystal-clear waters

💕 Sighnaghi – The “City of Love”. A charming hilltop town with Tuscan vibes and incredible wine

5 things you need to know before visiting Georgia 🇬🇪

After spending a few weeks exploring the country, here’s what we learned (sometimes, the hard way) 👇

1. Public transport exists, but a car gives you freedom 🚗
You can easily explore the country by taking marshrutkas (mini vans).
But if you want to explore off-the-beaten-path places like Vardzia, David Gareja or the Kazbegi region, rent a car🚘
✨ Bonus: driving here is easier than you think (and the views are next level).

2. Tbilisi is the perfect base to start and end your trip 🙌
Charming old town streets, epic food, thermal baths, and cool cafés? You’ll want at least a few days to explore Georgia’s capital.

3. May to early July & September to October = sweet spot✨
Great weather, epic landscapes, and fewer tourists.
Avoid August (hot + crowded) and keep in mind that winters are beautiful but snow can block mountain roads and some epic places can’t be reached❌

4. English is common… in some places😉
In Tbilisi, you’ll get by with English, but in smaller towns, expect to use Google Translate or learn a few Georgian or Russian phrases.
✨Some key words: Hello → Gamarjoba. Thank you → Madloba

5. The currency is Georgian Lari (₾), and it’s super affordable💰
Food, wine, transport, and even hotels are budget-friendly. Just know that cash is king, and most banks have withdrawal fees.
✨Look for BASIS Bank - They don’t charge fees.

💡Bonus tip
Georgia is safe, even for solo travelers.
The crime rate is low, and locals are incredibly welcoming. That said, always take precautions, especially when hiking or driving through remote areas.

💰 Budget
Georgia is super affordable 💸 You can eat well, travel around & stay in cute guesthouses on a pretty small budget

🚗 Getting around
We highly recommend renting a car (@localrent_com has the best prices), as it’s the best way to explore with total freedom.

But you can also book day trips with @gotrip24 or use marshrutkas (minibuses) 🚌

👉 Hot tip: Georgians are pretty aggressive drivers, so assert yourself 💪
Also, the road conditions are like a box of chocolates, you never know if you’ll get potholes, paved roads, goats or cows 🐄

💬 Language
Georgian is the main language, but in tourist areas, younger people often speak English. Russian is also spoken.
👉Google translate will be your BFF most of the time!

🍞 Must-try food:
