There’s no better way to celebrate both AAPI Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month than sitting down with comedian Aparna Nancherla (@aparnapkin), who has always been vulnerable about her own mental health in her work. She recently came out with a special on Dropout, Hopeful Potato, that serves as her re-introduction into standup after taking a break to write her book, “Unreliable Narrator.”

We talked about taking you inside the mind of an introvert and inviting you to stay for a while, why she refuses to wrap hard experiences up in a neat bow, and what it’s taken to trust her voice and intuition as a comedian and writer ✨

My Pinner's Circle 2026 Winner pin came in today! I am an avid fan of Dropout's content (mainly thanks to youtube shorts), but one of my favorite things they do is their Pin of the month series. I didnt know about their pins when this one originally came out, but was happy to vote for it to come back.

my favorite comedians 🎤

we all need a little bit of joy in our lives! i’m a big fan of stand-up comedy, improv, and sketch comedy, and these are some of my favorite comedians. the last slide includes comedians i’ve enjoyed in the past, have liked on snl, and/or want to watch more of!

who is your favorite comedian?

i have seen john mulaney live twice, and his show for baby j in the twin cities is my favorite show i’ve seen. i also saw fortune live twice, hannah gadsby, and trevor noah, as well as the basement yard experience on tour.

i’ve found tons of hilarious comics via tiktok, some not pictured here, and i’m always looking for more. i just like to laugh, ya know? a goal for my early twenties is to go to comedy clubs and improv shows 🤞
