Going back in time starting with a piece I made 10 years ago from thrifted tshirts and a lace tablecloth, then continuing with other things I’ve created from mostly thrifed textiles, styled with thrifted treasures.
I was featured numerous times in a magazine called Altered Couture, sadly no longer in print. However I promised my dad that I would be featured and I loved showing him the articles as they appeared.

This is what I wore today, a recent upcycle. I fell in love with these vintage pants but they were too small. After cutting the side seams open, I used some upholstery remnants to create gussets. I cut off the front pocket and used the original waist strings to make the bottom of the gusset look intentional and cohesive. Thrifted linen shirt, thrifted costume bracelet mixed in with my bangles, handmade earrings by @lynzeelynx ,silk scarf gifted by a friend, string bag I can’t remember. Not showing the rubber flip flops. I would’ve taken a mirror selfie but it was so hot by the time I got home, I just took everything off to sit in front of the fan. Stay cool y’all.

A Tale of Two Dresses. After struggling with my ambivalence about posting, I got up today with a block of time to myself and decided that I needed to post FOR ME. I haven’t been feeling great recently. I thrifted these two almost-identical (except for color!)basic linen dresses and styled them with things I’ve made or in the case of the gorgeous red @shopmaelu ruana, restyled. I made the jewelry as well. A reminder to myself that I still love clothes and making things; it might be too hot to feel like getting dressed but the alternative is depressing. After talking with my daughter about covering our hair, I revisited my love for hats and scarves. Starting with my mom, I went back in time for a few pictures. I wish I had more.

Today I tried styling the red top that I made recently. It was a little challenging because it needs to be taken in, but overall I’m happy. Also, here are some snapshots from our recent road trip that included parts of Germany and France. So, so beautiful. I’ve missed seeing snow.🌹

Today is NowRuz ( Persian New Year ) and Spring Equinox
This year our celebration is very different . the weight of the horrendous war waging in our homeland hangs heavy upon our heads and hearts - a dark cloud we cannot escape no matter how we try but we celebrate as best as we can - us Iranians in diaspora and those in iran now . 5000 years of history , of an ancient civilization that has given the world so much simply cannot be silenced by bombs and missiles . Each of us persians are representatives of our magnificent civilization as we celebrate this pre -islamic Zoroastrian celebration in hope that our country and our people will have peace and freedom soon . we carry that hope within us , each of us carriers of love, of patience of renewal and rebirth . Nowruz Mobarak to my Persian friends and family and happy Spring to the rest of you …
