The Department of Communication presents versatile academic programs that align closely with diverse career paths. Mr. Eric Knox, broadcast faculty member, and Dr. Pat Sanders, department chair, actively participated in recruitment efforts today during Preview Day, engaging with high school students from across the region.

They connected with several individuals interested in pursuing majors within our three concentrations: Communication Studies, Journalism and Digital Media Production, and Public Relations. Roar Lions!

Getting an opportunity to share special events with University of North Alabama Department of Communication students like Elizabeth Mathis helps to make the night even more fun. She wanted to take a picture with me, so I obliged, of course! I enjoyed having her in class last semester.

She shines brightly wherever she goes. 💜💛

When you say “I do” and “still do” after over 41 years of marriage. I wouldn’t trade him for anything, even on the not-so-good days! I love me some Lin Sanders, every day. 💖 (It is not our anniversary, just an “I love him” day.☺️)

Showcasing the #talent
that the University of North Alabama produces within its educational system is something I love to do. Leading this delightful #conversation inspires us all. Thank you, Justin Bishop Alexander and Dr. Ron Patterson for your #vision in helping bring this together and to kick off Black History Month at the University of North Alabama.

Thank you to my tribe
for your support. ❤️

Several UNA undergraduates walked across the commencement stage today, headed straight into adult life. This young man, a Communication major, was already there, with a successful YouTube channel. I’m wishing CJ March the best! His family was so gracious and kind to look for me after the ceremony to thank me for playing a role in his crossing the finish line. Shown are his mom, dad, grandparents and younger brother.

Go get ‘em, CJ! 💜💛👨🏼‍🎓

Another Broadcast Education Association board meeting in the books. It was good to see people like @ohradiogirl, Mark Webster, and George Daniels along with many others.

We were able to meet in the new National Association of Broadcasters building at 1M Street.

Friendships that last over time and distance are special. That’s what I have with Paivi Meritähti. I met Paivi 22 years ago at UNA as an exchange student from Finland. We became close and have remained friends all these years. She has since married and had two daughters. It has been 11-years since I last saw her. We arranged to meet today while she is in the States helping a friend move from Michigan to Miami. I’m always so glad she makes an effort to swing by Alabama to see me.

We had lunch and toured her old stomping grounds on campus. What a joyous day. I have promised her I am coming to Finland. She has been asking me to do so for years. I told her today I would make good on my word . Grace-filled travels, Paivi and @Jennifer Wooten Weiss. It was great to see you, too! ❤️

Fall Preview Day for visiting high and transfer students at UNA was a great success. Faculty from the Department of Communication had an opportunity to meet future students and parents from far and near. We hope to see their faces soon.

Special thanks to faculty members, Dr. Travis Cronan, Dr. Stephanie Montgomery, Dr. Pat Sanders, Ms. Tosha-Paige Whitten and Dr. Tim Worley, along with Student Media representatives for engaging with students. Thanks to senior administrative assistant, Ms. Tasha Clanton, for preparing our swag.
