A communist lair beneath Budapest.
45 metres below the city, a secret bunker F4 was built in the 1950s for Mátyás Rákosi, Hungary’s communist ruler, and his inner circle. If the bomb ever came, they were meant to escape through the metro by armoured train. The bomb never came — so today, it’s urbexers crawling through the tunnels instead.🔦

Loving subways well we spend our time pretending we are moving upwards chasing careers, status, money enlightenment. Some imaginary version of success but subways say no first we go down.
The underground becomes this enormous mechanical organism. Steel veins, fluorescent nerves. The underground doesn’t ask me to know where I’m going. It doesn’t even ask me to get on the train. It asks me to run through the tunnel.
You can’t see what’s coming around the next curve. There is no stop to miss because the stop doesn’t exist down here. I love it

The Art of Survival

When comfort in the wilderness doesn’t get in the way of mobility. Sleeping in a hammock defies all the rules of wild camping and saves a lot of money. It’s my best friend on all my trips and adventures.

Like a mole, this drill stands in the subway tunnels, day and night, almost around the clock, it is a huge machine that requires the simultaneous attention of many specialists, and there is as little space inside as in a spaceship Ⓜ️👷‍♂️🚧⛏️

Sometimes you climb up to reach what’s hidden below — and sometimes it’s the opposite. Urban exploration is about solving puzzles in unexpected ways.
