POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’m honored to share that I’m the special guest on Healing with Dr. Newman! 🎙️

This conversation is deeply personal.

My journey through COVID, surviving life support, loss, grief, faith, and finding purpose has taken me places I never imagined. That journey became the foundation for my book, Unmasked—a story about family, faith, forgiveness, resilience, and discovering what can be built from what tried to break you.

I’m grateful that my story—and the lessons I’ve learned along the way—are of interest to others.

We talked about COVID, loss, grief, healing and finding purpose, and what it really means to keep moving forward when life changes forever.

Thank you to Dr. Newman and the Healing with Dr. Newman team for creating space for an honest conversation.

🎧 The full episode drops TODAY!

I am so blessed. 🫶🏾

I was missing my family today, and God knew exactly what my spirit needed. I attended @dreamcenteratl The Dream Center Church of Atlanta, led by Bishop William Murphy and pastor @iamdaniellemurphy , and met up with my dear Mocha Doc and lifelong friend, @drsherika. What started as Sunday morning church turned into me spending the entire day with them, Dr. Newman and a few church family…and my heart was so full.

And Bishop Murphy’s sermon? ON FIRE. 🔥

“Check Your Spirit.” — Galatians 5:16

The message that stayed with me most: God is calling us to level up, but leveling up requires letting go.

You can be busy.
You can be successful.
You can be productive…

and still not be fruitful.

Fruitfulness looks like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

So maybe the question isn’t, “How much did I get done?”

Maybe it’s, “What is growing because of the life I’m living?”

Check your who. Who is influencing you?
Check your what. What is driving you?

Because just because it’s good doesn’t mean it’s God. A good idea is not always a God idea.

This week, I’m choosing to slow down, listen closer, check my motives, and focus less on simply being productive and more on becoming fruitful.

And looking at this photo reminds me that sometimes God knows you need love before you even realize how much you need it. I was missing my family, and He surrounded me with people who loved on me, poured into me, and filled my cup.

God is just that good. 🙏🏾❤️

There’s something powerful about being in a room filled with purpose, passion, and possibility. 💪🏽

The inaugural @pcphysicians Mixer brought together so much energy, excellence, and a shared desire to serve our communities well.

One of my favorite quotes came to mind:

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

And that truly captured the spirit of the afternoon.

A huge thank you to the amazing Dr. @themodeldoc for creating this community and bringing physicians together, and to Attorney @legallylashonda for generously sponsoring such a wonderful event. Love my gift bag. 👌🏽🙏🏽😊

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the delicious food at @delilahseverydaysoul and their great customer service. I shall return with my family. 😊

There were so many meaningful conversations and great ideas about how we can better serve our communities, support one another, collaborate, and create healthier work-life balance while doing the work we love.

And one of the best parts? Finally getting to meet so many wonderful people in person!

I’m grateful for the connections made, the wisdom shared, and the possibilities ahead.

We can do so much more when we do it together.

Excited for what’s to come!

I’m Proud to Support This One — Heal Thyself

There’s something special about being able to celebrate people you’ve known along the journey, especially when you’ve had the opportunity to see their heart before you ever held their book in your hands.

I’ve known Dr. Sherika Newman over the years, and I have always known her to be someone who is deeply in tune with her community, compassionate toward people, and a strong advocate for the patients and families she serves.

So when I learned that she had written her memoir, Heal Thyself: From Childhood Trauma to Triumph, I had to get my copy.

What I appreciate about Dr. Newman is that she has spent so much of her life caring for and advocating for others—and now she has made the courageous decision to share pieces of her own journey. There is power in professionals, leaders, doctors, teachers, and advocates being willing to say, “I have a story too.”

That kind of vulnerability can give somebody else permission to begin their own healing.

Dr. Newman, congratulations. I celebrate you, I honor the work you have done in the community, and I’m looking forward to sitting down and reading your story.

To everybody seeing this: go support Dr. Sherika Newman and pick up a copy of Heal Thyself. Support authors who are willing to turn their experiences into something that can help somebody else.

Sometimes the people who spend their lives helping others heal have a healing story of their own. ❤️

Congratulations, Dr. Newman. Your story deserves to be heard.

“Workplace toxicity….it gets in your brain, and it takes a while for it to get out…”

Those words from @jeffdauler stayed with me.
Sometimes workplace toxicity isn’t loud. It’s being discouraged from asking questions. Being made to second-guess yourself. Feeling like speaking up for patients, colleagues, or what’s right comes with consequences.

I’ve learned that psychological safety isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s essential. Because when people don’t feel safe to speak, everyone loses, including our own well-being.

I’ve been there…it happened to me. And it took me a while to say that out loud! I’ve learned from it, and am better now and I want you to be also. 🙌

If this resonates with you no matter what industry you work in, know this:

You are not alone.
Your voice matters.

Let’s keep building workplaces where we are safe to speak and feel psychologically safe.
