Expectation vs. Reality...

You sign up for an April bass tournament in California's Motherlode thinking you'll be greeted with calm water, blue skies, and a relaxing day of chasing big bass.

Then reality hits...

Somehow, 36 boats accidentally became contestants on the next season of Deadliest Catch. 🌊💨🤣

The wind howled, the waves stacked up,thunder, lightning, hail and every ride across the lake felt like an adventure. But that's tournament fishing—you never know what Mother Nature has planned.

Huge respect to every angler who stuck it out and battled the conditions. That's what makes tournament fishermen a different breed.

Who else has fished a tournament where you questioned all of your life choices? 😂👇
Planning for our 2nd Annual!!

We’ve still got PLENTY more content coming from the Johnny Creek Classic. 🎣⚡

First time seeing this clip this weekend and honestly it sums the day up pretty well. Outside of a mid-day electrical thriller that had everyone questioning life choices for about 45 minutes… it ended up being a pretty solid day on the water. 😂🌩️

Sometimes in bass fishing you just have to laugh through the chaos. One minute you’re boat flipping fish and talking smack… next minute you’re watching lightning crack across the lake wondering if it’s time to retire.

Huge thanks again to everyone who came out and rode through the conditions with us. The stories, footage, catches, and support from this event have been unreal.

More clips, more fish catches, and definitely more chaos still coming. 👀

Alright guys! 🎣🔥

If you’re headed up to McClure, McSwain
, local ponds, or the Merced River… make sure you stop by the newly opened Bait Bucket because they are now officially stocked with Johnny Creek Baits 👊

We officially made it onto the new wall as the shop continues filling up and coming together!

And yes… they definitely have the Purple Haze lineup in stock because the McClure bass have been absolutely CHEWING them lately 👀

So far the Purple Haze Neko has produced the biggest bass we know of at McClure this season with an absolute giant weighing in at 8.6lbs*
💥🐷

Big thanks to Steve for the support and getting us into the shop.

📍 Open Wednesday–Sunday
⏰ 5am–4pm

Stay tuned because we’ve got even MORE shop drops happening this week and next week 🔥

Here’s just a glimpse of the first-ever Johnny Creek Classic 🎣🔥

This one’s been on the bucket list for a long time… and to finally see it come to life on the water was something special.

Huge thank you to everyone who fished it, supported it, and sponsored the event—you’re the reason this all came together.

This is just the beginning…

All on the Creek… 🎣🔥

When the pressure’s high and conditions get tough… results speak.

Every one of these fish—Johnny Creek Baits only.
No matter the weather, no matter the pressure on the lake… they still showed up and got it DONE.

Proof at the scales.

If you know… you know.
If you don’t… it might be time. 👀

Man… what a difference a week makes. 🎣

The Johnny Creek Classic actually fished pretty solid for about 90% of the day… but that midday storm? One of the wildest we’ve ever had to ride out on the water. 🌪️🌧️

Huge thanks to Andrew for capturing that moment—video really puts it into perspective.

Looking back at it now… we’ll gladly take last week’s bags over what we’re seeing this week based on the latest reports. Sometimes you don’t realize how good you had it until it changes.

We’ve got a ton of photos and videos from the team that will start dropping throughout the week, so stay tuned… there’s a lot more to share from an unforgettable day.

The first Johnny Creek Classic did not disappoint.

🏆 24.72 lbs took the win
🐟 8.06 lb Big Fish

And the lake showed out:

• 1 fish over 6 lbs
• 5 fish over 5 lbs
• 6 fish over 4 lbs

All caught on local hemp baits by Johnny Creek Baits.

Some of the bigger bags Don Pedro has seen in a while.

And we’re just getting started…

🎥 More videos and photos dropping soon from the film crew.

Not sure about everyone else… but this boat definitely saw some water on Sunday. And not just on the bottom of the boat. 😅

That storm rolled through quick and made things interesting for about 45 minutes, but that’s fishing. You take what the day gives you and keep casting(well maybe stopped casting for some lightning for a minute).

Thankfully the sun eventually showed back up and it felt pretty good!

Rain, wind, sunshine… just another day on the water.
