Friends considering Grammy submissions this year, we’re so grateful for your ears on this arrangement! This one feels like a window into a broader arranging ethos we’ve been cultivating with other tunes like “Defying Gravity” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade”- stretching songs as far as they’ll go without losing their soul, and discovering surprising and satisfying combinations along the way.

This arrangement represents the fundamental beliefs of this project: that a song from “Cats The Musical” might contain enough grief and hope to contact the Holy Spirit directly, and that the canon of rarified classics is meant to be played with for that reason. There are oceans of feeling hiding in the most familiar music, which is the whole ethos behind the craft of arranging and covering, which is why we’re thrilled to be in conversation with so many extraordinary arrangers this year.

A SOLD OUT BARCLAYS SHOW W/my TRIBE 💫

Dear Soul Friends,

I almost don’t know how to write this. The love is overpowering, honestly. I keep trying to find words big enough to hold it.

Having y’all at Barclays meant more than I could explain from that stage. Then Kola sent me a voice message, almost in tears, telling me how proud she was of me. Reminding me how deep my tribe runs. How loved I am. How many people have my back.

I don’t think y’all understand what that feels like. To move through this world knowing there are people who will celebrate your becoming and hold you through everything it takes to get there. Your love keeps me alive in ways you may never fully know.

Sometimes I look up at the sky and want to scream THANK YOU and cry all at once. The gratitude feels bigger than my body can hold. That’s how I know there’s a God out there. Because I look at you, at the way you love me, and I have somewhere to point my prayer.

I wish there were a way to let every single one of you feel, for just a moment, the love I carry for you.

You stay as I grow into different versions of myself. You let me change, and you keep learning me. You don’t bullshit me. You tell me the truth, protect me, and show up with a love I never have to audition for. Maybe these things should be the foundation of every friendship, but it’s hard out here to find them. Especially in our industry. I know how precious this is.

I want to grow old with you. That is my ultimate prayer.

I want the birthdays, the ordinary Tuesdays, the hard conversations, the laughter we can barely breathe through. I want to keep meeting every version of you. There isn’t a chapter of my life I can imagine without wanting y’all somewhere in the pages.

Thank you for being in that crowd. Thank you for being in my life.

I love you with every ounce of my being. And if we get to grow old together, I’ll spend the years making sure you know it.
