Our Talk To Me youth took on the Sandwich Challenge as an introduction to our conversation about neurodivergence. This activity wasn’t meant to recreate anyone’s disability or experience. It challenged our kids to recognize barriers, adjust how they communicate, and find ways for EVERYBODY to participate.
.
Everybody doesn’t think, learn, or express themselves the same way, and that’s okay. We have a responsibility to make room for those differences instead of judging what we don’t understand. Different brains. Different strengths. SAME WORTH. 💯

Major S/O to my mentee turned mentor, @1.jayt , who did an AMAZING job leading this facilitation! Watching someone I poured into now stand in front of the next group and pour into them means more than I can put into words. Jahira, I’m proud of you and the leader you’re becoming. Ms. Sharon, I hope you know how much you mean to me, our children, and the entire As I Plant This Seed family. Building something that matters takes people who believe in the mission enough to put their heart into it, and I’m grateful to have you beside me doing this work. Thank you for loving up on our kids, pouring into our families, and giving so much of yourself to help The Treehouse be a place they can depend on.

So much of this work happens when there’s no camera, no applause, and nobody there to say thank you. But please know that I see you, I appreciate you, and I don’t take your presence or your dedication for granted. The time, patience, and care you give matter more than you know. You are part of what our children will remember when they look back on the people who showed up for them. ❤️

Want to give a major S/O to my cousin @sigmadit of @born2protectllc for coming through to @thetreehouseaipts to drop some jewels on our youth for Situational Awareness Week! 💪🏾💪🏾
.
This week was led by former mentee turned mentor @nayxbutta., who did an amazing job introducing the topic and wrapping it up with a full hands on experience with the best in the city!!!! Watching somebody who came through the program come back and pour into the next generation means EVERYTHING to me! 🌱
.
Our youth learned what to do during an active shooting, how to control bleeding, how to recognize dangerous situations, and soooo much more. These are skills that could mean the difference between life and death for them or somebody around them.
.
An important fact involving youth in emergency planning can build their confidence and give them a greater sense of control before an emergency happens. That’s why teaching awareness has to come with teaching them what to DO!
.
Much love to my cousin @sigmadit for sharing his time and knowledge, and to @nayxbutta. for stepping up and leading! We have a responsibility to prepare our children for life, and this week was that responsibility in ACTION!!!! 💚🌱

FULL HOUSE tonight with our Talk To Me High School mentees!! 🙌🏾🌱 The energy, the personalities, and the potential in this group got me excited like it’s 2015 all over again! I see so much possibility in these kids, and I’m looking forward to watching them discover it for themselves.

Mentorship matters. Research from MENTOR found that young people facing barriers who had mentors were more likely to attend college, take on leadership roles, and volunteer in their communities. Having somebody in your corner can help you see possibilities you never knew were there. (mentoring.org)

If y’all are looking for a mentorship program that will challenge your child to grow, hold them accountable, and love up on them like they’re our own, send them to @thetreehouseaipts We’re here to build trust, introduce new opportunities, and keep showing up while they learn who they are and what they’re capable of. 💪🏾💚

When a child trusts you enough to let you into their life, that trust comes with responsibility. They deserve consistency, care, and adults whose commitment goes beyond when it’s convenient.

PARENTS SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT!!! 💪🏾💚🌳
.
We had more parents and guardians attend our meeting at The Treehouse than some schools get for parent night and that says a lot about the trust, relationships and community we have built around our children.
.
People are quick to say parents don’t care or don’t want to be involved, but our room told a completely different story. Our families came ready to listen, ask questions, meet the mentors, understand the expectations and become active partners in their children’s growth.
.
Mentorship cannot reach its full potential without the family. When parents, mentors and the community communicate and work together, children receive the accountability, support and consistency they need from every direction.
.
Thank you to every parent and guardian who showed up! Your presence sent a powerful message to your children: YOU MATTER, YOUR FUTURE MATTERS, AND WE ARE ALL INVESTED IN YOU.
.
This is what community looks like. This is what continuity looks like. This is how we build an EchoSystem around our youth.

THE TALK TO ME MENTORSHIP PROGRAM IS BACK!!! 🌱💪🏾

We are calling ALL past participants and new youth to join us for Orientation Week at The Treehouse! For more than 11 years, Talk To Me has poured into hundreds of young people through real relationships, consistent mentorship and conversations that prepare them for real life.
.
This program helps youth strengthen their confidence, communication, emotional intelligence, decision-making, accountability and leadership. We create a space where young people are heard, challenged, supported and reminded that their lives have purpose.
.
The success of Talk To Me has never come from simply hosting programs or events. It comes from showing up week after week, building trust and remaining present as our youth grow. We believe mentorship should produce measurable change and there is no version of mentoring children without irrevocable responsibility.

When you think about our youth and what it truly takes to get through to them, you realize that a lot of people simply aren’t willing to go through what it takes to genuinely pour into the next generation.

That’s why we embedded going “Up and Beyond” into the system of our programs. It’s not just something we say it’s the standard we set for anyone who believes mentoring youth can be a revocable act.

It’s always tuff to lose a mentee and though my heart is heavy I know GOD don’t make mistakes. He call home who he wills sometimes sooner than later but we are only stewards and all things belong to GOD. I’m just glad I had the chance to know a kind loving and helpful human being such Chris.

100-degree weather wasn’t about to steal our campers’ joy. 💦☀️
.
When the heat turn up, so do we. We made the decision to turn the day into one big water battle with water blasters with ice water, plenty of hydration breaks, and constant check-ins to make sure every child stayed cool and safe.
.
One thing about Talk To Me we’re always going to find a way to make the best out of any situation. Keeping kids safe doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. It just means you get creative.
.
These are the moments they’ll remember long after summer is over. A place where they can be kids, build friendships, laugh until their stomachs hurt, and know they’re surrounded by adults who genuinely care about their well-being.
.
Summer camp isn’t just about keeping kids busy. It’s about creating experiences they’ll carry with them for a lifetime… even if today’s memory came with an ice-cold splash. 💙🌳

Today, as we kicked off summer camp, we shared the origin of the Treehouse a dream born from a moment of faith, fasting, and community. We stood on Broad and Hunting Park where we raised $30,000 in two and a half days and transformed a bando house into the vibrant heart of our community. These kids are learning that they are the foundation of our mission what once was a dream is now a reality they get to build upon.”
