It’s a little early for Mother’s Day, but we’re going to rip this one before your procrastination leads you on a last-minute CVS run, you pathetic child. How do you show appreciation for your mother? To some, it’s a box of chocolates or a flower once a year. Maybe you even write a card. Good for you, rockstar. @donnaspicklebeer is a story about _real_ maternal love. When I was a kid, my mom always told me that Elvis bought his mom a pink Cadillac and maybe I could do the same for her one day. She also yelled that I would break the door to the garage by letting it swing shut by itself. I dreamed of buying her not a car, but a bright pink Cadillac-branded garage door that we could slam as hard as we wanted. But really my dream is a gesture of love via the absurd. I have always been drawn to life-altering acts/jokes whose punchline can only be understood by the few that have played a bit out so intensely that it becomes a defining characteristic of who you are. The joke is so subtle it’s hardly a joke at all. A great mind once described it as “the payoff is the smirk at the end of it.” @donnaspicklebeer is the act of gratitude I wish I had thought to give my mother. An entire company to show off an awesome mom. The can features Donna-as-pickle, and details her Mick Jagger backstage make-out lore. At a launch party in NYC last week, her fun spirit attracted crowds just waiting to taste her juice. I have tracked/sampled over 3k unique beers myself (serious).  And while this one seems like a goofy idea, the taste is no joke. This is refreshing, both literally and in the unique sense in that it is not a kettle sour but a lager. The pickle is subtle and complemented by the beer’s bready sweetness. I will be quaffing cans this summer and you should too. The merch must also be mentioned. There are few garments in the pickle industry that hold such impeccable swagger when worn. Somehow, Donna’s pulled off the impossible. Anyways, go get your mom a delicious 6 pack for mother’s day. It’s a weird gift, but the oddity gives room for an explanation, and the explanation can only be love. You only have two weeks to show just an ounce of gratitude, why not make it 12oz?

No need to pinch me! Time to let the cat out of the bag on this luckiest of days 🍀 When my best pal, @drunkuncle asked if I’d help him to make a brand for his mom, @drunkmom9, I said yes immediately. When he showed me the crayola marker label he mocked up I said, oh my god yes. @donnaspicklebeer was born that day. We could not be more excited and proud to launch April 16th @pilotprojectbrewing in Chicago. The day is also Donna’s birthday. If you are in Chicago come by! And if not we want to get beer in your hands and mouths as soon as we can! Let us know if this tickles your fancy! #youllrelisheverysip #thefinestbrine
