2 years, 48 matches, and two guns later, I officially achieved USPSA Grand Master in carry optics. I did it with good ole plastic fantastic glonk 47. Now on to limited optics for a little side quest.

Your static training may be good, but it’s limiting.

This is just a training tool.

But it’s one of the best I’ve found.

It’s also a lot of fun.

It’s never too late to wake up and get better.

Thinking I’m going to start taking this thing a little more seriously.

This started out as just a way to test my skills and identify weakness to take back to training for work. But I’m starting to really enjoy it, and I’m seeing glimpses of actually being decent at it at some point.

On days like today, where I had a fair amount of errors, it’s still well beyond my max performance capacity of six months ago. So the work is paying off.

Today I finished 13th/67 // 6th in LO. Major self induced malfunction on one stage (check your magazines) and Mike’d my way out of another would be SOLID classifier run (I’m really good at this). Otherwise a fairly consistent day.

I recently signed up for my first major, and I’ve started to up my time on the range. Have some classes I’m attending soon with some greats in the space. Interested in seeing where this can go.

Go train and have fun.

I haven’t done this from AIWB in a while and it showed. Thanks for the push on that last post @_xiphos1

Trying to catch up to @asn_shoots @absolute_dynamics & @riosreloaded

Ended the nationals prep with the @xray.alpha.llc bill drill rundown with match ammo. 9.51 HF with too many charlies. Shifting live fire to more stage style trying to dial in the performance mode.

Sometimes slow progress feels like no progress. Other times you just have to know what to look for.

Still in this exploration phase, and in this match per the plan, I kept the aggression up, but dialed some things back a bit and shot a decent overall match. Not without error. It was just consistently decent. 16th overall, 6th in LO.

It’s easy to focus on the things I didn’t do well today, but those will get addressed in training.

Overall, the progress is progressing.

Back onto the lab.

I get this question a lot. Simple answer is it’s as accurate as you would need a training tool of this style to be.

Mental reps.

We’ll be back to regularly scheduled posts after this. Just unwinding a bit.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. Have fun & touch some grass, or sand, or water, or whatever.

Why I record, and how I break it down afterwards.

This was one of my better runs from the day. I was about 1.5 seconds off from the fastest shooter’s run, which is easily made up by not making these errors. A solid run that could be way better just by picking betters spots and staying committed to them.

Having the gun up and ready to shoot sooner makes up for shooting speed. & sometimes that starts with positioning. Small pieces of a big puzzle.

Solid way to end a dope weekend.

Ran AI for @achillesheeltactical & @shane.parman_aht ‘s Baseline Pistol and Baseline Rifle courses. Had some incredible evenings with @jorgepastorefoundation & wrapped up shooting a match with big Shane for the first time and of course this savage took first overall.

Do fun things with dope people.

Another good match of growth and pushing limits. Boring stand and deliver strong hand weak hand classifier. I enjoy that there are so many of those in this game 😐. Easy A.
