друг

Taking its name from the 2009 video, Playing Michael Jackson Pollock —by punk & prankster artist Marco Schmitt— this exhibition reflects the current state of painting after a XXIc. so far flooded by zombie formalisms, abstractionisms and figurativisms; an Instagram-based ocularcentristic meme-society; and the still nowadays relevant post-medium condition of pictorial practices, as condensed in the acclaimed Painting beyond itself: The Medium in the Post-Medium Condition (Sternberg Press, 2016) edited by Isabell Graw and Ewa Lajer-Burcharth, inspired after Rosalind’s Krauss concept coined in 1999.

The exhibition gathers 12 positions: including 3 big format paintings, by Sydney Acosta, Roberto Delgadillo Moreno and Aeda Kim; medium formats by Giulietta Ockenfuß, Diego Salvador Rios and Katherine Gómez; plus a collage by Javier Gutiérrez Navarro, paper works by Lisa Nürnberger, a video/sculpture by Dominic Michel in collaboration with Andreas Kalbermatter, Schmitt’s video, and a meta-pictorial artwork by artist Veronica Madanes.

We are delighted to invite you to visit the exhibition and to continue together in real life our painting discussion,

Looking forward,

XO,
