Halfway through October and I’ve done a terrible job this year of keeping up with our usual Down syndrome awareness month posts. Leo Grae, to Pluto and back and around again, amorcito mío.

It all started with Kai.

Our mornings together, his curiosity, and the little moments we share as a family became drawings, characters, and songs. That’s how Kai & The Chromatic Band began.

I’m an artist, a musician, and a father living with Parkinson’s. My voice can be unpredictable, so I’ve been finding new ways to bring my songs to life. I write the lyrics, compose on my guitar, and use AI to help produce the vocals.

At the heart of this project are six characters, each with their own personality and way of experiencing the world. Through their stories and music, I hope more children can see themselves represented and feel they belong.

In this video, I share our story and the world we’re creating. Stay until the end for Good Morning, Kai, the first song I wrote for my son, inspired by our mornings together.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month 💙💛

This month, we celebrate the incredible individuals with Down syndrome who remind us every day that ability comes in many forms, differences deserve to be celebrated, and everyone deserves a place to belong.

At the Montgomery County Angels, inclusion isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we live through friendship, competition, teamwork, confidence, and community.

We had no idea what to expect but it was the most amazing experience we’ve ever had with Joe Aaron. He had the best time ever and a whole dance party too.

To say these individuals are special is an understatement.

The sweetest day celebrating our Rylie Girl at the DSASTX Walk & Stroll! Thankful for everyone who donated and supported Rylie’s Roster so the DSASTX can continue to provide resources, support, and sweet community for families and individuals with Down Syndrome. 🥹💙💛

Most of all, we’re grateful God made Rylie, and all her extra chromie homies, exactly who they are! And grateful that in His kindness, He chose Rylie for us! I am better because I know my little bestie niece. 🫶🏽
