I would see other babies with Down syndrome
around Alora’s age reaching milestones and I would feel frustrated.

Then ashamed for even feeling frustrated.
Because I thought maybe
I was doing something wrong.

And little by little,
comparison almost stole the joy
of simply watching my daughter grow.

I’m still learning that her progress is not a reflection of whether I’m doing motherhood “right.”

I don’t want to spend her childhood
watching everyone else’s child grow.

I want to be present for hers.

I want support her, love her and advocate for her
without turning someone else’s journey
into a measurement of hers.

And if you’ve struggled with this too,
please know you’re not the only mom who has felt it.

We can be grateful for our children
and still admit that some parts of this journey are hard. But there’s also grace.
Grace to learn.
Grace to let go.
Grace to stop measuring.

And grace to love the child
God placed right in front of you. 💙💛

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month 💛💙

Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal condition diagnosed in the United States, with approximately 5,775 babies born with Down syndrome each year (CDC). Today, people with Down syndrome are living longer and more active lives, making access to education, health resources, social connections, and inclusive community opportunities more important than ever. 🤝🌎📚

For children and young people, access to meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, create, and stay active can help build confidence and independence. This is the work of the Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida (DSFF), whose programs are designed to support the educational, social, physical, and creative development of individuals with Down syndrome. 🌟

Kingdom Charitable Trust is honored to support DSFF programs, including iCanExcel, Etiquette, and Zumba, which provides over 100 participants ages 10–15 with opportunities to develop skills in mental health literacy, expressive arts, wellness, and social connection while building confidence, discovering their strengths, forming meaningful connections, and actively participating in their communities. 🎭🧘🎨

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and this year, the @dsfflorida is celebrating 15 years of partnership with UCF’s Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute through its iCan! collaborative program.

The initiative connects families with resources while creating opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome to learn and develop new skills.

October is @down.syndrome.awareness month. This is my girl @calliegolf54. Callie has been a student of the game her entire life. Now she has a passion to coach the game to kids with Down syndrome at our annual iCAN! golf clinic that I began four years ago with the @dsfflorida . Our goal over four classes is to help people with Down syndrome enjoy this great game whether they end up playing putt putt, @topgolf or just playing the game. I’m thankful to expert coaches @miriampilandrice @alyssagolf and @coachteno for your expertise and to the many volunteers that make this happen.

🍎❤️ Eleven years ago, my parents had no idea what the future would hold for their son with Down syndrome, but they made a choice: LOVE over FEAR.

They chose to celebrate me, show me OFF to the world, be proud of me, cherish me, and fill my childhood with beautiful memories. 🥹

They embraced joy in the midst of chaos and made sure I always knew I was worthy, loved, and worth celebrating.
