POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🚨 This is not a drill. This is not a joke. This is not a troll Jonny Dougs is back and he’s ready to roll. Here’s some flyers from sets I’ve done.

I can work a full-time job, have two amazing kids, practice MMA and still get this done. So Boston, for the love of God get me on some sets before I have to come start taking them. 🚨

Because I’m no longer asking for respect, that has come from good deeds, good sets, loyalty, and a drive most people call insane. I am now demanding the fucking respect I am owed. From EVERYONE I’ve helped along the way in MY journey…

Part 1 (of 2)

Music played a crucial role in “Waiting For The Drop,” transforming a historical documentary into a musical journey. So today I’m sharing a Spotify playlist of our soundtrack! I’ll leave the link in the bio.

It features 16 songs in largely the order they appear in the film. This is by no means all the music in the movie, which has 45 licensed tracks over 70 film cues. This is everything available on Spotify.

WFTD didn’t employ a composer. The story of how we came to settle on the film’s soundtrack, well…I have some stories for you.

Our editors chose some of the best tracks, starting with Juan Palacio, who discovered Baracoa’s classic “Délirio.” Luciano Alexander found Tiesto’s “Maximal Crazy,” which features an eerie breakdown that sets the tone for the discussion of Hakkasan in Vegas. Luciano also sniffed out @hardwell’s “Blackout,” which he heard Robbert playing on his laptop in an Atlanta hotel room.

Most memorably, Luci fought for me to license Salt Tank’s iconic trance tune “Eugina” when I was about to replace it. He stood his ground in a Santa Barbara hotel room, where we were in town for our SBIFF screening. “Dude…I put a lot of emotion into that edit,” he said. He was right: I can’t imagine that dreamy montage without that song now.

@dskchk, an editor and music producer, contributed songs and found some strong tracks, the most powerful of which is “Run” by Australian composer @tristanbartonmusic. He also discovered great stuff from @stanleygurvich and two other Israelis. Stanley has six tracks in WFTD, including “Soliel,” which sets a melancholy tone in more than one cue. (You can find it on Artlist.)

And Jason O’Donovan, the son of one of our investors, pointed me to Eyal Federman, aka @iamdescentmusic, an LA-based artist who had a treasure trove of great electronic music from an earlier producing period.

What’s your favorite track on the playlist? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Stay tuned for Part 2!
