August was full. 🤎

Productive gardens, fall decorations, farmers market evenings, date nights, poolside wine, and a whole lot of baby snuggles.

We celebrated 28 years of marriage, welcomed our grandson, and then I went back to work. And, of course, we squeezed in a Disneyland day because apparently I can’t stay away. 😂

It was a good reminder that working toward early retirement doesn’t mean putting life on hold.

I’m saving for the future while making sure I’m actually enjoying the life I’m working so hard to keep.

If you’re new here, HI, I’m Robyn! A 51 year old mom, grandma, and professional with a 7-figure net worth who is working toward early retirement. Follow along for practical money-saving tips, budget-friendly family life, and my journey to retire early in Southern California.

Here’s to another month of choosing enough and making the most of it.

28 years has gone by in the blink of an eye. We are not perfect. But we have learned to show grace and kindness to each other, even when we don’t feel like it. The best thing for us, though, is the adventures we have had and the memories we have made.

Cheers to another year of loving you! ❤️

July reminded me that the best parts of life rarely show up on a receipt.

If you’re new here, HI , I’m Robyn! A 51 year old mom, grandma, and professional with a 7-figure net worth who is working toward early retirement. Follow along for practical money-saving tips, budget-friendly family life, and my journey to retire early in Southern California.

This month was filled with early mornings at work, wearing one of my favorite thrifted dresses, celebrating the Fourth at free local events, a free Disneyland day with my husband, trying a new hobby, cooking healthy meals at home, and cutting fresh flowers from my garden.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday… and then our family experienced the greatest joy of all—welcoming our sweet grandson into the world. Becoming a grandma has already changed me in ways I can’t even put into words. 🩵

As I work toward early retirement, this is exactly the life I’m trying to build. Not one filled with more stuff, but one filled with more time, more memories, and more moments with the people I love.

The #DapperDans sing a #Disney classic on Main Street, USA. We were waiting for “Soundsational” (still my all-time favorite #Disneyland parade) when they walked up and started singing this Dumbo classic.

Only one thing could have made this moment more iconic…so keep watching. 🎶😊

Earlier this year, our adventures took us to #NewOrleans for a couple days and we walked through as much of its history, music, and food as we could.

The @nopsihotel was an incredible home base, close enough to #BourbonStreet for easy walking, and we loved the hotel’s charm, ambiance, and great food and drinks!

The famous #CarouselBar was a true delight, live jazz at @fritzelsjazzpub, beignets from @cafedumonde, and a stunning cathedral were just a few other highlights. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to go back!

Why is #SpaceshipEarth the greatest attraction at #Epcot? Ride along with me and see! There’s a million reasons: the Bruce Broughton score, the classic narration by Judi Dench, SO MANY audio-animatronics, plus it’s classic EPCOT: edutainment at its best.

I grew up with the Walter Cronkite narrative and the classic “Tomorrow’s Child” ending, but this version? It hits perfectly and I think #WaltDisney would love it.

(I’m okay if it never gets updated, please!🙏🏻)

We LOVED @archive_temecula when we ate there not long ago. The service was great, drinks top notch, and the food? Well, Robyn did her “happy food dance,” so you know it was delicious! And the overall design and look of the place was a delightful celebration of books and music. Very vintage feel with great modern touches that make it feel homey yet exciting.

If you’re ever in #Temecula, your adventure needs to include this place, right in Old Town. We can’t wait to go back!

There’s a lot of beauty in the world, but nothing beats a simple day of making memories in a place like Carlsbad. From the quiet of the beach to the charm of Old Town and Main Street, it’s a reminder that the best adventures happen with your friends (who are family)—making memories together over good food, great views, and lots of laughter.

If you’re ever in Southern California, make sure to plan some time to visit one of our new favorite places to “adventure” just a short drive away!

July is already halfway over? The month has been full of big and little adventures, from big holiday moments to quiet nights, Disneyland days, visiting local landmarks, and making memories with our family and friends.

Whether it’s the #FarmersMarket we can walk to, sailing the #JungleCruise, checking out the @bapslosangeles grounds, drinks and silliness with friends, celebrating an #HonorRoll achievement, there is always an adventure to be had!

If you’re ever in #NewOrleans and want to experience an authentic #BourbonStreet moment, the only place to hear #livejazz is @fritzelsjazzpub. We sat here in this tiny place, delicious drinks in hand, for as long as possible.

With a grandfather who played jazz trumpet and piano in his early years, it was a true core memory because of all the music, memories, and incredible heritage in this place.

You’d think jazz is everywhere on Bourbon Street. It’s not. It lives in the memories of the streets, the buildings, and in small, cramped clubs like this. One adventure we will never forget.

Sometimes our adventures are quiet ones! Today was a relaxing day of church, an easy lunch at home, reading an Emily Henry book, and assembling a new Lego set.

“Adventure” doesn’t always have to mean “exciting.” There’s adventure in the moments where it’s just a good book, something to put together, and jazz playing in the background.
