An important update from on board Yeva.
Unfortunately the Northern Sea Route Administration have asked that we cease our attempt at crossing the NorthEast Passage this year, due to an unusually heavy amount of ice blocking the Eastern entrance to the Northern Sea Route, as well as some other locations along the route that they are concerned will not open up enough. Our permit for the NSR states that we must remain in “ice free waters” - unlike the NorthWest Passage, where you are allowed to find paths through the ice fields.
This means that Yeva and I cannot continue our expedition this year.
It is a tough pill to swallow, after spending so long working hard to get Yeva ready again, and seeing all that hard work pay off on our way up the Bering Sea, where Yeva and I had an absolutely wonderful shakedown sail. We’d actually made it all the way to Russia when we got this news.
I am now tucked up safe and sound in Nome, Alaska, making other arrangements for an over-wintering of the boat here again.
My incredible partners @capitalcom_moments have graciously offered to continue their support for us to try again next year, and the Northern Sea Route Administration have invited me to re-apply for another go next year also.
After having poured so much of myself into this expedition over the last few years, I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet. Let’s see what next year brings.

On Friday afternoon we had the chance to see one of our @dsnmltd managed vessels up in London.

The 168m Scenic Eclipse II is part of the @scenicdiscoveryyachts and after 25yrs it’s still so lovely to see crew face to face and vessels in the flesh!

She was berthed on the Thames for just 2 days before heading off to her next destination.

After delivering a box of charts and flags to the bridge for the crew, we were hosted for drinks and dinner by Captain lJames Griffiths and team followed by the most amazing sunset and a concert on the heli deck.

There is nothing like seeing vessels in home waters especially in the beautiful summer sunshine!

What an incredible day yesterday at our annual Wilsonhalligan Sports Day!

A huge thank you to DSNM, Maritime Training Academy, Ocean Independence, Dohle Yachts and MedAire for joining us and making the day such a fantastic success. It’s always great to bring so many people together for a day of teamwork, friendly competition and plenty of laughs.

A very special thank you to Rob De Silva for hosting once again. As always, you made the day unforgettable with an amazing selection of fun and games that kept everyone entertained from start to finish.

Every year this event gets bigger and better, and it’s a real highlight of the calendar. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Concentration stations. Every kid should have a playground, so we added one to the job list at the school we’re helping build in West Africa.

The crew are pouring their hearts, souls and sweat into this thing - along with some little helping hands - and it’s shaping up to be a beast.

Big shout out to the team at @dsnmltd who have contributed to the materials for this non-optional extra, in support of the legends from @homeghananpo who run this school 🙏🏽
