🎬 Leadership Rewind: Episode 2

✨ Empower Student Leadership Conference 2026 ✨

This past week, I had the privilege of participating in the Empower Student Leadership Conference 2026 — a powerful two-day transformational experience designed to strengthen student leadership and promote experiential learning across Delaware State University.

From engaging workshops and dynamic speakers to collaborative team-building activities, every moment challenged me to think critically, lead intentionally, and serve with purpose. The conference reinforced that leadership is not just about holding a position — it’s about creating impact, empowering others, and continuously growing.

I left inspired, equipped with practical tools, and connected to a network of driven student leaders who are committed to making a difference on campus and beyond.

Grateful for the opportunity to grow, reflect, and step further into my leadership journey. 💼📚✨

As your Sophomore Class Executive Secretary, attending the 2-day Empower Leadership Conference was an unforgettable experience filled with inspiration, growth, and pride. From engaging workshops to powerful keynote sessions, every moment reminded me why I’m so proud to represent my school. Being surrounded by driven, passionate student leaders pushed me to think bigger, lead stronger, and show up with confidence.

One of the biggest highlights was competing in and winning the case competition as a presenter. Stepping onto that stage to represent my school was both an honor and a responsibility I carried with pride. Collaborating, strategizing, and delivering a presentation that stood out among so many talented teams made the victory even more meaningful.

This experience allowed me to step up, representing my school with excellence, integrity, and heart. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to grow as a leader, connect with other changemakers, and make my school community proud. Empowered, inspired, and more motivated than ever. #MONEYLINE🩵❤️

On Tuesday, December 2, our Honors Student Association Corresponding Secretary hosted a wonderful collaboration and bonding event between her two organizations, @dsu.honors and @desu_nsmh

With finals week quickly approaching, she curated an experience focused on easing stress while celebrating the holiday season. She even baked cookies for us to decorate and provided gingerbread houses to assemble as we watched Home Alone 2 together.

I’d like to extend a special thank you to Kim for giving me the chance to decorate my very first gingerbread house; an experience I’m truly proud of. This event served as a meaningful reminder of the joy and warmth the winter season can bring.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday season and an amazing finals week! 🎄✨

Shoutout to PFC Velazquez for crushing his enlistment journey into the Delaware Army National Guard as a 25B Information Technology Specialist! 🚀💻 This role is crucial in keeping our systems secure and running smoothly, and PFC Velazquez is up for the challenge. 💪

As an IT Specialist, he'll maintain and troubleshoot systems, build firewalls, and develop programs that support our Guard Soldiers' missions. His job duties will include:

✨ Performing network, hardware, and software maintenance
✨ Training others on network and software usage
✨ Building and testing custom computer applications

But what really sets PFC Velazquez's journey apart is the perseverance and determination he showed in overcoming obstacles. 🤯 With a hand tattoo waiver and medical waiver in the mix, the process wasn't easy. In fact, his MEPS medical consult initially left more questions than answers, leading to a denial. BUT WE DIDN'T GIVE UP! 💥

We took it upon ourselves to get not one, not two, but THREE additional medical opinions, all of which cleared PFC Velazquez for service. And with that, his medical waiver was approved! 🌟

The point is, if it's valid, we'll keep pushing. We won't let barriers stand in the way of achieving our goals. Whether it's a medical waiver, tattoo waiver, or moral waiver, we'll navigate the process and find a way forward. 💪

Let's give it up for PFC Velazquez and his commitment to serving our nation! 🎉 We're proud to have him on board and look forward to seeing the impact he'll make as a 25B IT Specialist.
