Fantastic to have @dthackeray in with us again yesterday at @cssdlondon, kicking off the third year @cssdactingcdt students’ intimacy journey with a tight focus on industry-readiness. A thorough scaffolding of practice and procedure relating to intimacy is vital on the programme — ensuring students are informed, empowered, and able to self-advocate.

What’s a particular joy about getting David back is not only his active practice in the industry — fresh from Simon Stone’s The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre — nor his impressive CV (Black Doves, Day of the Jackal, The White Lotus, Dune: Prophecy, Sex Education, Heartstopper, Speak No Evil, The Crown) — but the fact that he is also an alum of the programme. Finding ways in which the practice of those who have been through the training can feed back into it is a real gift: cultivating community, contextualising the work, and keeping practice compassionate to the student journey whilst remaining attuned to the contemporary sector.

Introduction to Intimacy Coordination with David Thackery 🎬

We’ve got our next LMF Skills Masterclass Workshop coming up in July, led by intimacy coordinator @dthackeray .

David was one of the first Intimacy Coordinators working across film and television in the UK, beginning in the field in 2017 when the role was still new to the industry. Since then, he has worked across major productions including Sex Education, Heartstopper, The Crown, The White Lotus, Andor and Kaos.

This full-day workshop will look at how intimate scenes are approached on a film or TV set. From reading the script and understanding what needs to be addressed, through to conversations with performers, rehearsal, and how those decisions are carried through during filming.

Across the day, participants will get a practical introduction to intimacy coordination, looking at how this work supports performers, directors, producers and crew when scenes require care, clarity and preparation.

Saturday 4th July
10am - 5pm
LMA Liverpool Film Studio

£30 Adults
£25 Students

Tickets available now through the link in our bio.

Lots of love,

This and...
no alarms, no emails, bowls of tzatziki, aubergine dip & pitta bread, no makeup, iced coffees by the beach, sun-kissed skin and endlessly optimistic people.

Now let's get home and renovate our new home 😍

What a few months it’s been!

Between screen intimacy training with @dthackeray, intimacy direction on You’ve Gone Quiet for @OpenHandedTheatre and Don’t You Want to Kiss Someone as the World Ends?, catching up with the loveliest creatives at this years @picturehousecentral Picturehouse Create launch presented by @netflixuk, pre-Cannes drinks with the lovely lot at @filmsoho and another excellent term with @directorscuttheatre — it’s been a full, brilliant, pinch-me kinda time.

Grateful for the rooms I’ve been in, the people I’ve met, and everything I’ve learned along the way. More screen and theatre projects coming later this year. Watch this space. 👀
